No Thanksgiving to God in Obama address
Thanksgiving 2012 represented the fourth year in a row that President Barack Obama failed to use the word God in his address to the people.
President Obama failed to make a single reference to God during his weekly address titled, “On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country.”
The President’s remarks were totally void of any religious references although Thanksgiving is a holiday traditionally steeped in giving thanks and praise to God.
But nowhere in the 11-paragraph address does President Barack Obama mention the Almighty God.
Instead, President Obama references the Civil War, two World Wars, and the Great Depression – noting that “Americans drew strength from each other.” Drew strength from all, but not God.
However, our 16th President – Abraham Lincoln – said the nation drew its strength from God. He declared as much in his 1863 Thanksgiving Day proclamation.
