Some of you who were nervous about the serially bad news cycles in 2006 may remember receiving assurances from the GOP that we should not panic, we still had a great "ground game" that would make up the difference. Of course, while a good ground game matters a lot, it can't make up for getting whupped on the evening news every night, and Republicans got routed.
Looks like the Obama campaign is telling Josh Marshall pretty much the same thing the Republicans told us two years ago. Yeah, good luck with that.
And of course, the Democrats' assumption of a superior ground game has been based all along on the enthusiasm gap, as the Democrat base was fired up and ours demoralized. You may have noticed some changes in that dynamic lately.
