France raises Palestinian diplomatic status.
France is upgrading its diplomatic relations with the Palestinian Territories to back international efforts toward creating a Palestinian state, the French foreign minister said Monday. Bernard Kouchner said the Palestinian diplomatic representation in France — which was called a “delegation” and headed by a “general delegate” — will henceforth be considered a “mission” headed by an “ambassador, chief of mission.”
Similar upgradings are under discussion in Spain and Greece, Deputy Palestinian Foreign Minister Ibrahim Khreisheh said.
If y’all didn’t know (I posted it here at RS, but I don’t think anybody saw it or cares.), The Jihadist At 1600 ordered Hillary to go further and “The Flag Of Palestine” is now flying high in Washington DC…… Has been for five days.
The United States State Department has announced to the Palestinian Authority/Palestinian Liberation Organization Mission representative in the United States that its status will be upgraded from a ‘bureau’ to that of a “general delegation’ and that this change will allow the office in which the representation is situated to fly the PLO, now also the Palestine Authority, flag at its entrance.
The upgrading, besides allowing the flag to be flown, also grants certain privileges to the delegation staff, such as diplomatic immunity, although it is not equal to embassy status.
With the addition of France, that makes right around 60 governments officially recognizing “Palestine” as a nation.
I don’t think I need to comment further than that.
