Here’s a curious bit of news for Georgia House District 55.
Rashad Taylor, yes same guy, is in a three way primary with Leonard Tate and Joel Alvarado.
Now, the word on the street is that Tate is not really even putting up a fight at all. Now we know why.
According to Rashad Taylor’s disclosure report, Taylor paid Tate a $400.00 “consulting fee” on May 29, 2008.
Does $400.00 ring a bell? It should. That’s how much it costs to qualify to run for the State House.
So, I’m guessing Mr. Taylor was concerned about all his DPG baggage and the thought of getting into a runoff with Mr. Alvarado if this were a three man race. He encouraged Mr. Tate to sit the race out by paying him back his qualifying expenses.
Now the question becomes, will Mr. Tate declare these consulting fees on his tax return? He’s going to have to do so. He probably should have gotten Mr. Taylor to pay him a little extra to cover the cost of taxes.
