Ben Carson: Iowa Is Just Like Benghazi. Or Something
Ben Carson was on the radio today comparing the Ted Cruz campaign in Iowa to Hillary and Benghazi.Read More »
Here’s a dirty little secret in American politics. A lot of the reporters who cover politics don’t know the first thing about politics. They cannot read the tea leaves. They do not know how. They do not even try. That is why men like Larry Sabato, Chuck Todd, etc. have become so prominent. It is not hard to figure things out, but a lot of reporters are lazy. They need the story spoon fed to them. There is a massive story out there right now and the political reporters have totally missed it. Let me spoon feed them and educate everyone in the process.Barack Obama has become the first major Democrat to admit, though tacitly, the Democrats are screwed in 2010.All you have to do is look to Missouri. Please click here for the rest of the post.
We are hearing word that House Democrats, led by House Rules Chairman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) are attemping an end-run around one of the most basic Constitutional principles taught in Junior High Civics – the mechanism by which a bill becomes law. . . .Having determined that they lack the votes in the House to pass the Senate bills as-is, House Democrats are attempting one of the most breathtakingly unconstitutional power grabs ever witnessed – a maneuver to deem the Senate bill ALREADY PASSED by the House by rule, despite the fact that it clearly has not. Please click here for the rest of the post.
The other day I exposed the fact that Harry Reid switched the languagein the House-passed H.R. 3590 Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009 and inserted the Senate version of the healthcare bill via a manager’s amendment in order to meet the requirement of all legislation raising taxes originate in the House. The Senate passed the revised bill with the healthcare language in it, and now the House must revote on the changed bill because, according to the Constitution, the identical bill must pass both the House and Senate in order to be signed into law. And, once the Senate Health Care bill passes the House, President Obama will sign it right away. The threat of reconciliation in the Senate is hollow. There isn’t going to be any reconciliation. Please click here for the rest of the post.
I missed this report from last week and it is totally worth highlighting.Because of the Christmas Day panty bomber and all the other threats and nonsense the Islamofascists are throwing at us, the TSA intends to make us all start walking through full body scanners where TSA agents will be able to see us in all our nekkid glory.Except the Council on Islamic Relations objected. So now the TSA looks like it is going to carve out a total exception for muslims so no muslim will be subjected to a full body scanner. Please click here for the rest of the post.
…as per the first comment in this Hot Air post about Kent Pankow. But that’s absurd: we’ve been told by all sorts of people that such things could never, ever, ever happen under a government-run universal health care regime.”Suffering from brain cancer, Kent Pankow was literally forced to go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. for lifesaving surgery — at a cost to family and friends of $106,000 — after the health-care system in Alberta left him hanging in bureaucratic limbo for 16 crucial days, his tumour meanwhile migrating to an unreachable part of the brain, while it dithered over his case file, ultimately deciding he was not surgery worthy.”Please click here for the rest of the post.
The Speaker’s flip-flops are catching up with her.And the strangeness is starting to show (see the video): we have to pass the Senate bill so the public can see what is in it.Her famed control over house members minds is fading: She supported Chairman Rangel right up until she dumped him. She did not have the muscle to impose upon the Ways and Means Committee, her choice of Chairman. And on ObamaCare, the Speaker insisted the Senate go first, that she could not pass the Senate bill, that the House would not be a rubber stamp for the Senate, and that the Senate must prove it will act as she says it will, which is for the Senate to change their own bill into a bill the House wants. Uh, huh. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Liz Cheney’s new group has a very effective ad out.How effective is it? Sweet Little Lindsey from South Carolina has his knickers in a wad crying foul on behalf of the Obama Administration. Some lawyers are out there saying this is an unfair attack on the lawyers Barack Obama hired because everyone is entitled to zealous representation.Let me tell you why America is so great, folks. In America, there are all sorts of people making up a diverse mindset and sharing varied opinions. The legal system reflects that. There will always be lawyers willing to defend the indefensible. And if you are a lawyer willing to defend the indefensible you can get really rich and/or really infamous. Some of them are there just because they like the challenge.Typically, however, the lawyers willing to defend the indefensible are from the far left — particularly when defending those who are at war with America.Good for them for being willing to have a niche in the legal field. But it says something not about them, but about the Obama administration that Barack Obama would put these same attorneys into the Department of Justice. Please click here for the rest of the post.
