the Morning Briefing every morning at no charge.
CORRECTION: In yesterday’s Morning Briefing I included a post that arose from a report of the National Legal and Policy Center dated April 14, 2010. The NLPC reported that the Republican National Committee, listed as the “Republican National Convention,” was among the 45 sponsors of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference, with all sponsors financially contributing to the event. The report circulated widely after April 14th, I wrote about it on April 17th, and yesterday after including it in the Morning Briefing the RNC denied it had paid any money to the National Action Network.

This evening in Florida information has begun trickling out about Charlie Crist’s plans — he is undecided and polling the heck out of everything. From one person who is directly in the know comes this, “I just heard he is polling everything: stay in primary, run as independent, run for REELECT as governor.”Charlie Crist has become Rob Frankenjesmerstein’s monster. The NRSC created this being and is now unable to control him. He risks now throwing more races into chaos, causing more money to be spent (remember, the NRSC said backing Crist meant it would not have to spend money in Florida), and fracturing the GOP.Charlie’s diva behavior is NRSC Chief Strategist Rob Jesmer’s creation and problem. It was Jesmer who wooed Crist into the race. Remember: the NRSC has said all along that Crist was their only primary endorsement because that’s what it took to get Crist into the race. Please click here for the rest of the post.
So what to do with Crist? The more relevant question is what to do with those who support Crist.First, every Republican Senator who backed Crist must immediately demand their money back. That’s a no brainer.Second, we need to see which Republican operatives stay with Crist and make sure they have a hard time finding work after leaving Crist.Third, I hope the Club for Growth will, like they did with Arlen Specter, get every Crist donor to demand their money back.Lastly, and most importantly, let’s anticipate the media narrative over the next week. It will go something like this . . .Please click here for the rest of the post.
I’ve been getting a lot of flack among friends on our side for my support of Rand Paul. It’s understandable. He is Ron Paul’s son. I’m not a Ron Paul fan. Notably, Rand is more often than not accused of taking a position that is not his, but is his father’s.I want people in Congress who are on my side, but who are not easily controlled except by principle. It is a hard thing to explain and I’m not sure I should try, but I will. Please click here for the rest of the post.

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”
2010 (bolding mine):
…since any Social Security plan would probably preserve benefits for those nearing retirement, it would not help the administration achieve its goal of reducing the deficit to 3 percent of gross domestic product, from 10 percent, within a decade. One way to reach that 3 percent goal, by the calculations of Mr. Obama’s economic team: a 5 percent value-added tax, which would generate enough revenue to simultaneously permit the reduction in corporate tax rates Republicans favor.
So says Joe Klein and John Heilemann:“I did a little bit of research just before this show – it’s on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious.”How can I mock this, let me count the ways…and don’t even get me started on the New York Times, the LA Times, and a host of other seditious co-conspirators during the Bush years. Nevermind what our dear misguided friends did to undermine our war efforts and level the playing field for our enemies. Please click here for the rest of the post.
