I told you Barack Obama had become a pariah among Democrats.Back in March he went to Missouri to raise money for Senator Claire McCaskill, who is not even on the ballot this year. He ignored Robin Carnahan who is running for the Senate. In fact, Carnahan was in DC on the same day and cryptically said we’d all have to talk to the White House if we wanted to know if Carnahan and Obama would ever appear together in public.Well, Obama is headed back to Missouri. It’s allegedly part of his “Main Street” tour to tout the need for financial deform. Odd then isn’t it that the event will be closed to the press? So even if Carnahan shows, we won’t see them together. Why does the President of the United States go to Macon, MO to tout a legislative proposal and not want to be seen unless he is a pariah? After all, every state wide candidate he has campaigned for since his election has lost. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Let’s review. The Executive Director of the NRSC, Rob Jesmer, lines up the Republican Establishment to stand behind Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey.Specter bolts.Rob Jesmer then tries to get Tom Ridge in. Ridge refuses. The NRSC tries again in an “anybody but Toomey” bid. They fail.Toomey is the guy.In Florida, Rob Jesmer convinces Charlie Crist to leave the Governor’s Mansion and open up a gubernatorial primary where there had been none. Crist, at the NRSC’s behest, gets in against the Latino guy because while the GOP needs Latino faces, Jesmer calculates we don’t need a Latino like Rubio who Jesmer concluded was not viable. We know how that is going. In Colorado, the NRSC pushes Jane Norton into the race. She can’t make it through the Republican Assembly, has to bypass conservative activists who will be the primary voters for a costly signature drive, and has already had to shake up her campaign once. And that, my friends, brings us to the unmitigated disaster unfolding in Indiana where the NRSC ultimately loses even if it wins. All thanks to Rob Jesmer. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Eugene Robinson is very aggrieved about the new Arizona law:”Legal immigrants will be required to carry papers proving that they have a right to be in the United States.”So aggrieved, in fact, that he’s apparently mixing up his tenses. It is already federal law for legal immigrants / visitors to carry their green cards and/or other relevant immigration information with them at all times. It’s been that way for years. Fabrice Tourre today “categorically” denied allegations against him before the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations in Washington. The Goldman exec vowed he would defend himself in court against charges specifically of fraud, and no doubt in the press against what is essentially the blame for the entire financial meltdown being symbolically cast at Goldman-Sachs’ feet.Redstate readers are familiar with the “magical” (as Dan Gainor put it) timing of the SEC investigation into charges that huge Obama donors Goldman-Sachs essentially created something designed to fail in order to then bet against it. Such evil greed, so blatant, and so on time for the Obama administration’s push to control the financial sector.Financial “reform” is a biggie, and the President needed a bit of populist anger to create popular support in a populace becoming increasingly restive in the face of growing government. And then “poof” … a villain appears. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Across Indiana, Marlin Stutzman keeps winning straw poll votes among primary voters. The odds are that when the next polling comes out today or tomorrow, Marlin Stutzman is not going to be in first place. Dan Coats will. That is understandable. Coats has very high name recognition, having been elected repeatedly in the 80’s and 90’s.The trouble for Coats, however, is that momentum is clearly with Marlin Stutzman. Please click here for the rest of the post.
Should you be allowed your own choice in doctor? It seems like a no brainer. What about senior citizens? Should they be allowed to go to the doctor of their choice or keep the doctor they had before they crossed that magic threshold into senior citizenship? This is just common sense. Or at least it should be.Please click here for the rest of the post.
