The (un)Fairness Doctrine
20 keystrokes for freedom! (or thereabouts)
Far be it from me to ask all to endorse anyone or sign anything, however, being that queen bee Nancy Pelosi cannot wait for President Obama to commence the “socialization” of our government, this petition has got to move and move soon:click here if you concur
*Look at the effect of (Newt Gingrich’s AmericaSolutions.org) the DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW petition… over 1.3 million as of last count, in a short two months!

Total needed: 200,000
Suspense date: 01-Aug-2008**
I’ll be watching this one as I blog South to North on my “escape HotLanta” vacation. ;o)

Once again, liberal leaders are pushing the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” to silence conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin. Their goal is clear — silence conservative speech over the radio airwaves. Read MRC’s Special Report: Unmasking The Fairness Doctrine (.pdf) here
Help Declare Radio Independence!
The Media Research Center is leading the effort to expose and defeat these efforts. The Broadcaster Freedom Act (H.R. 2905) — a bill in Congress that would ban permanently the so-called “Fairness Doctrine.” — is stalled in Congress. We want to rally 200,000 signers before Congress leaves for their August recess so we can press every member of Congress to go on record on this vital First Amendment issue.
NOTE: The “Broadcaster Freedom Act” is currently stuck in committee. Sign this petition urging Congress to bring this bill to a vote before Congress leaves for their August recess!
Attacks On Conservative Speech*
“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine.” — Sen. Dick Durbin
“In my view, talk radio tends to be one-sided. It also tends to be dwelling in hyperbole. It’s explosive. It pushes people to, I think, extreme views without a lot of information…. I’m looking at [the Fairness Doctrine]…. Unfortunately, talk radio is overwhelmingly one way.”–Sen. Dianne Feinstein
“I think the Fairness Doctrine ought to be there … One of the most profound changes in the balance of the media was when the conservatives got rid of equal time requirements. The result is that they’ve been able to squeeze down and squeeze out opinion of opposing views.” — Sen. John Kerry*
