It seems in my rush to cover the events in the park in Pierre, SD, I was a bit oblivious to the fact that all the people I was meeting were not all there for the same reason. A reporter for the local Capital City Journal was there too. The event, with pictures, was on the front page of the newspaper this morning. My wife called me on my cell phone at work and informed me about it. The coverage wasn’t too bad either for legacy journalism.

Republican congressional challengers Joel Dykstra and Chris Lien believe the key to their victories this fall will be getting people energized about their candidacies — something that can be hard. So both of them came to Steamboat Park in Pierre Thursday to try to introduce themselves to local Republicans and build up their base heading into November.
“This is what it’s about, for me,” said Lien, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. “Traveling around the state, getting to meet everybody — great people, very engaged, lots of great questions holding us accountable for what we’re doing.”
I am glad that I got to take part. I found myself being covered as well, so, for those of you who didn’t know who I am, you all know who I am now. Notice the picture in the story.
