I’m not posting this to gripe and I don’t want the thread to be a list of grievances so if you’ve come here to piss and moan…stuff it and move on!
Neil is making progress and I want to start by giving credit where credit is due. Thanks for the hard work in a thankless Job Neil. It’s obvious you are making progress because it shows. If I heard it correctly, “that you are not being paid for the work on this”, I want to tell you that you are my hero! I won’t kiss your A## too much because I want to reserve the right to argue with you on politics at some point! :>) That being said, I admire the fact that you are willing to take the barbs currently being thrown at you and keep on working.
I’ve got a couple questions, observations, suggestions and requests and I’ll post them and leave it at that, do with them what you will and please accept them as an attempt to be constructive and not a reason to rake the administrators over the coals. I’m sure you’ve heard some of these before. Some I have heard and some not…I’m attempting to put my spin on the ones I’ve heard and I apologize if I’m kicking a dead horse in the instances where I haven’t.
- I note the “Recommended” list hasn’t changed in at least 48 hours. I know this is continuously raised as an issue…my question is, “is this a problem again or has nothing else been recommended lately?
- Something that might end the griping about the lack of a recommend button would be to simply color the link blue and underline to make the link more obvious. This way Neil won’t have to take the time to create a button with links…just make the link more obvious so people find it easier.
- I won’t gripe about the loading errors or the time to load the page because there has been obvious improvement and I thank Neil once again for his hard work.
- Which brings me to my final question: “if it’s true that Neil isn’t being paid for his work on the site, would it be possible to create a fundraising button so RSers can donate the money to pay him as an independent Contractor/Consultant for the site upgrade?”
Finally…Several members, including myself, have asked that one of the administrators take the time to do a small post with a list of what is being planned and what the known issues are that are being worked on.
Aside from those questions I want to say I love the new format and the way the site is shaping up…I’m excited to see how things will be when the final tweaks are completed!
Great job guys and gals!
