Clever and unrelenting push-back against the Obamedia pretense that Obama is cool while Romney is a bumbling square, is the major reason that line of attack is not working this cycle. It all started with Clint Eastwood and the Empty Chair.
Even a dim-bulb such as David Letterman has figured out that the emperor may have a wardrobe malfunction.
Its amusing to watch the Obama Campaign and the Obamabots in the media pretend that Obama still leads and that the Democrat's ground game will cinch it. In reality they know the outlook is grim.
All the polling movement is toward Romney. Obama is mired at around 46% or 47% which is death for an incumbent. Another supposed secret weapon for the Democrats, early voting, is instead favoring Romney according to all sources including Gallup.
Ohio, upon which Obama's people have confidently hung their hats for weeks, is now either tied or Romney is ahead. States in which Obama should be enjoying huge leads (Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania) if in fact he's ahead in Ohio, are much closer and Obama is under 50%.
All losing campaigns indulge in a bit of whistling past the graveyard, but the totality of the effort this year is remarkable. Nate Silver, supposedly Mr. Number Cruncher himself, still shows Obama with a 73% chance of winning and with 295 electoral votes. I can't wait to see how he tries to spin his way out of this mess.
