Several conservative blogs (and almost no place else) have reported that the new Missile Defense Agency logo looks familiar–like an Islamic crescent, like the Iranian space agency’s logo, and like Obama’s personal logo.

From the Washington Times:

Obama Missile Defense Agency logo apes Iranian space agency logo

Subscribe**UPDATED again on 2/24/10 with the Iranian Space Agency Logo:
Weaselzippers.net caught this bizarre governmental coincidence. The U.S. Missile Defense Agency, which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense, went from using the first logo below to using a logo looking strangely similar to the Obama 2008 campaign along with the original agency logo. The new logo was created by the logo design company TMP Government. It appears the logo below still exists on the site and coexists with the new logo on letterhead, but the Web site shows it in a less prominent smaller area than the newer one.:

Michelle Malkin also reported the controversy, showing The Drudge Report page with the new logo, Obama’s logo, and the Islamic crescent.

This is very troubling. In World War II, would you have any American agency logo look at all like a swastika? You’d go out of your way to make sure there isn’t any resemblance at all, wouldn’t you? Does anyone have common sense?

Equally troubling is the reporting. The MSM has been silent.

Fox News covered this, but compares the new Missile Defense Agency logo only to Obama’s logo. The Islamic crescent is not shown, nor is the Iranian space agency logo:

Missile Defense Agency, Obama Campaign Logos Cause Internet Stir
By Joshua Rhett Miller
– FOXNews.com

The Internet is abuzz with comparisons of the “strikingly similar” logos of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the ubiquitous Obama 2008 campaign.
Is this Logo-gate?

The Internet is abuzz with comparisons of the “strikingly similar” logos of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and the ubiquitous Obama 2008 campaign.

The Missile Defense Agency, which is part of the Defense Department, now features a circular red, white and blue logo on its Web site that has been characterized in some reports as “scarily” similar to President Obama’s former campaign symbol. Others have noted that it has a crescent and star design, evoking a common symbol for Islam.

I saw the story on Fox News’s Special Report with Brett Baier, and there wasn’t a single mention of the Islamic crescent or the Iranian space agency logo. Is it true, as Debbie Schlussel has said, that Fox News (Prince AlWaleed News Network) is going soft on Islamic stories?
