JournoList is very troubling. Ezra Klein started it, so let's get to his post of a few hours ago.
EZRA KLEIN'S LAME DEFENSE
From Ezra Klein's blog at the Washington Post:
When Tucker Carlson asked to join Journolist
By Ezra Klein | July 22, 2010; 5:59 PM ET
I hoped to let my quick accounting of the constant inaccuracies in the Daily Caller's selective quotations from Journolist stand as my last word on the matter. But Tucker Carlson's sanctimonious and evasive statement on the way his site has been covering this story deserves a response. So allow me one more post.
Tucker's note doesn't bother to mention the actual questions that have been raised: That his stories have misstated fact, misled readers, and omitted evidence that would contradict his thesis.
Two words for Mr. Ezra you-can't-quote-us-journalists-you'll-just-take-it-out-of-context-as-you-always-do Klein: Rush Limbaugh.
Rush Limbaugh has been on the air for over 20 years, and every word that he says can be found on his website.
Don't you think Rush gets misquoted by your JournoList members? They've got twenty years of quotes to mangle, and don't you know, when Rush wanted to buy into an NFL team, the press used a quote he never said! Another quote ("We should go back to segregated buses!") was said in jest/irony/satire, Rosh repeated that people were taking it out of context, and don't you know that my local Austin American-Statesman has still never apologized for that error?
Rush jokes about the liberal bias and plays with the liberal media. "For Media Matters, let me explain..." But Rush knows that his explanations won't matter and he'll get misquoted anyway.
A member of JournoList was revealed to have wished for Rush's death. So did "comedian" Wanda Sykes. President Barack Obama and other "journalists" laughed when she said it. A Fox News host (Hannity) said that he couldn't imagine wishing that anyone.
So Ezra Klein is mad about Tucker Carlson quoting the JournoList's posts? What context will "murder Rush Limbaugh" be OK?
(I don't want to have to make subjective judgments, but I'm also not going to let Michelle Malkin hop onto the list)
No, you don't want Michelle Malkin on your JournoList. You want all liberal journalists acting together in total secrecy.
He asked again if he could join JournoList, maybe on a read-only basis. He never responded to the idea of creating a bipartisan list. I was disappointed, but didn't think much of it.
My mistake, obviously.
The Washington Post's Dave Weigel and his JournoList was a news story. It was a mistake to open JournoList to a reporter for The Daily Caller?
So open it up to the public, then we can all see it in context and determine for ourselves what it really is.

A satirical comment right on point:
You should call him a racist

NewsBusters has been on the story:
After JournoList Exposé, No One Better Ever Deny Liberal Media Bias Again
By Brent Bozell
Thu, 07/22/2010 - 12:18 ET
Managing Editor's Note: NewsBusters Publisher Brent Bozell today reprimanded members of the press in light of the recently exposed e-mails from the now-defunct JournoList that show a blatant, deliberate campaign to smear conservatives. That statement is published below. Click here for more background on JournoList.
The revelation of these e-mails simply proves that we have been right all along. The liberal media have no interest in being fair or unbiased. In fact, they are deliberately violating any sense of journalistic ethics.
There is no excuse – none- for the attitudes and lack of professionalism these so-called journalists displayed not only in these e-mails but in their reporting. Any member of the media that was privy to these Journolist emails, and remained silent, is just as much to blame as the folks that crafted these e-mails. Their silence indicts them.
We said in 2008 that the media were making excuses for Jeremiah Wright and now we have the proof. Just today we learned from the Daily Caller that these people went so far as to say that Rush Limbaugh ‘deserves’ their hate. Sadly, I am not surprised, as this is what we have been exposing year after year about the media. And it’s exactly why Americans refuse to trust them.
MSM STORY BLACKOUT
I live in the Austin area and subscribe to the Austin (TX) American-Statesman. It's editor has told me that no-no-no, we don't have a liberal bias! How ridiculous!
Let's check the Statesman website for "JournoList":
We know that liberal journalists conspired to cover-up stories that were damaging to presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008. We know they conspired to attack Sarah Palin from Day One. We know that one journalist suggested to make up racisms charges against a conservative--any conservative. We know that one journalist wished death upon Rush Limbaugh.
If you read the Austin American-Statesman, however, you wouldn't know this. It's not important for you to know.
Let's check my former local newspaper The New York Times. It publishes "All the News That's Fit to Print":
We point example after example after example, and they're still doing this. The liberal media is still lying. They have no shame.
The FTC and FCC are looking to shut down conservative websites and talk radio and Fox News. They're looking to subsidize the MSM! This is led by the Free Press, a George Soros-funded group.
It's getting worse. Bad things are happening fast under this administration.
