60 Minutes did a story on Sunday called The People Behind The Mosque. Several typical 60 Minutes “shortcuts” disturbed me.
Pamela Geller was introduced. She runs a blog called Atlas Shrugs. I don’t know how you can do a story about her and not say the words “Atlas Shrugs,” but I sure didn’t hear them. I heard that Geller runs a blog that “mixes news.opinion. and conspiracy theories.” The 60 Minutes guy (Scott Pelley) asked her straight out how she can write a blog that tells lies. He asked no such tough questions of the other side.
Pelley walked from the proposed structure to the place he said “the government officially designates as Ground Zero.” Does the government offically designate any place as “Ground Zero”? “Ground Zero” is a popular term. Is just the World Trade Center “Ground Zero”? Is the Pentagon “Ground Zero”? Is a field in Pennsylvania “Ground Zero”? Is any place that was attacked by the terrorists on September 11, 2001 “Ground Zero”? Since the Burlington Coat Factory was hit in those attacks, why isn’t it “Ground Zero”?
Scott Pelley then said: “Last December, Geller’s appears to have been the first blog to rename the community center ‘the Mosque at Ground Zero.'” 60 Minutes then showed you a Pamela Geller article titled “Why There Shouldn’t Be a Mosque at Ground Zero,” but 60 Minutes didn’t tell you that this didn’t run in December 2009. It was from Human Events of September 4, 2010!
Atlas Shrugs did have a December 21, 2009 post titled: “Mosque at Ground Zero: Adding Insult to Agony.” However, Pamela Geller did not coin either “Ground Zero Mosque” or “Mosque at Ground Zero.” 60 Minutes could have asked me. I work for free, you know.

A House of Worship Near Ground Zero
A five-story building at 45 Park Place, two blocks north of the World Trade Center site, now houses a Muslim prayer space. Burlington Coat Factory operated a store there until Sept. 11, 2001, but it had been vacant since then, until a group of Muslims bought it in July.

Mosque At the World Trade Center: Muslim Renewal Or Insult Near Ground Zero

An identified group with unknown sponsors has purchased building steps away from where the WorldTrade Center once stood—to turn it into potentially one of the largest New York City mosques.
At the moment the building, the old Burlington Coat Factory, already serves as a mini-mosque: an iron grill lifts every Friday afternoon for a little known Imam leading prayers a few yards away from where Osama Bin Laden’s airborne Islamist bombers killed nearly 3000 people back in 2001.
Imam paid $4.85M for Ground Zero mosque – in CASH!

Where did imam Faisal, who called America and Christians the first terrorists and whose wife is on an advisory team for the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, come up with $4.85 million in cash? And where will he get the $150 million to build an Islamic mecca planned two blocks from Ground Zero?

A new Islamic mosque will open its doors just steps from Ground Zero where Muslim terrorists murdered 2,751 people in the name of Allah on Sept. 11, 2001 – and its leading imam, who conducts sensitivity training sessions for the FBI, has reportedly blamed Christians for starting mass attacks on civilians.

60 Minutes on the Ground Zero Mosque
Considering it’s CBS, yes it could have been worse, but it was pretty bad. I am called a “conspriacy theorist” for speaking the truth and investigating the stealth jihadists behind the mosque. You can write to CBS here.
Thug devleoper Sharif El- Gamal is treated with kid gloves. No mention of his rap sheet, his bullying of moderate Muslims against the mosque or the fact that that he was just evicted from his office. He was a waiter a couple of years and suddenly became a BSD developer on the medicare fraudster’s dime, his financier, Hisham Elzanaty, was a large funder of Hamas (exposed in the Holy Land terror funding trial) while defrauding medicare out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Worse still, Imam Feisal Rauf was packaged like a big fuzzy teddy bear. Nothing about his previous first performance on 60 minutes. It was right after 911, and Rauf blamed America for the 911 attacks. “Osama Bin Laden is made in the USA.” Watch that video here.
He, too, was given a free pass
60 Minutes clearly must issue a correction. Pamela Geller was not the first blog to use “Mosque at Ground Zero,” and the article shown was clearly and knowingly not even her 2009 article.
There’s a lot more wrong with the story, such as questions not asked and people not asked, but you don’t get a correction for stuff like that.
