RE: Powell To Endorse Obama

If This True...

In response to this article stating that Powell might endorse Obama.

If this is true, this confirms all that I thought about Colin Powell since he left the Bush Administration. Specifically, his involvement in the Valerie Plame Affair.

Colin Powell

It is no sercert that Colin Powell fought tooth and nail with Donald Rumsfeld about going to war with Iraq. Then Secretary Powell thought we shoud have given the UN more time. However Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney had the ear of President Bush, thus was over-ruled.

Secretary Powell tendered his resignation on November 15, 2004. The next day, Richard Armitage also resigns. Exactly a year later, the Valerie Plame Affair errupts with Bob Woodward’s column. History knows the rest of the story.

I normaly don’t believe in conspiracy theories, but this smells to high heaven and I am unable to speak of Powell’s name with out total disgust.

Let’s go back to Bob Woodward’s column. He stated it was “a government official with no axe to grind” who gave him the name of Valerie Plame, I take great offence to that description of Armitage.

Again, no secert that Armitage was a moderate* among The Vulcans and the only one not working in some way for the Bush Administration at this time. Did Armitage get directions from Powell to “accidentally” slip the name?

Yes, Bob Woodward’s column did come out in 2005 but it is well known that Richard Armitage met with Woodward in mid-2003. In later phone calls, he leak the name.

I have no proof, but I think then Secretary Powell order Armitage to leak the name in order to discredit President Bush. The ending result is poor Lewis Libby having his reputation damnage over a non-crime. I am still trying to wrap my head around Lewis Libby’s conviction. But I digress…

Come up to me and ask if Colin Powell had anything to do with Valerie Plame Affair, and I will tell you:

“Yes! I would not trust Powell as far as I can throw him!”

Now with Powell ready to endorse Obama, proves that Colin Powell does have an axe to grind with the President Bush and, with Richard Armitage, set the Valerie Plame Affair in motion.

*While I believe there is nothing wrong with Moderates, I am just pointing out that both Colin Powell and Richard Armitage are Moderate Republicans who did not agree with going to war with Iraq. I consider myself a Moderate Republican and I still think going to war with Iraq was the right thing to do at the time.
