Senator John Kerry: Syria Committed To Mideast Peace

“Show me your friends, and I tell you who you are.”

U.S. Senator John Kerry says Syria is committed to engaging in peace making and is essential to the process.

The Democratic senator, who is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters after a three-hour meeting with President Bashar Assad Thursday that Washington is also concerned about the flow of weapons to Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group through Syrian territories.

Washington has reached out to Syria in recent months by nominating the first U.S. ambassador to Damascus since 2005 and sending top diplomats to meet with Assad. Washington is hoping to draw Syria away from Iran and the militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas.

Kerry’s visit is the latest by several American officials.

Riiiiight. Of course, what did you expect from an article written from the AP? Notice how they didn’t call Hezbollah and Hamas terrorist groups, but instead just militant groups.

It’s not that I don’t believe Kerry, is that I think he is naive as anyone on the left that believes that crap. Everyone can clearly see Syria is a puppet of Tehran and they use the Palestinians just to mess with Israel. I don’t care what anyone says, the Golan Heights belong to Israel. It should be a lesson to the rest of the world that you shouldn’t start a war (Syria joined in the Six-Day War, attacking Israel first) and then complain about it later when you lose territory.

Don’t get me started on how Syria keeps antagonizing Lebanon. We all know who order the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and who supplies Hezbollah with money/weapons. I mean, this is a country that is openly exporting terror in the Middle East and we are going to buy that they want peace?

Syria is also the home country of the Ba’ath Party. The same party that in Iraq was lead by Saddam Hussein. People also seem to forget that like North Korea, Bashar al-Assad seems to have inherit Syria from his father Hafez al-Assad.

This is not a country we should be making friends with. I know I am taking a hard line here, but I don’t get mad at hearing the words “Syria”, “Damascus”, and any part of Bashar al-Assad’s name. Both Syria and Iran are currently the source of Islamic Terrorism in the world today, in my honest opinion. If their support for the terrorists stopped, I forsee most terrorist groups collapsing over-night.

Barack Obama and John Kerry want to make friends with Syria? Well as the saying goes:

“Show me your friends, and I tell you who you are.”
