Frances Fox Piven: The Tea Party Is All About Sex

(Via The Blaze) Naked Emperor News has a video out that will make you go: LOL, WUT?

Look, I am not going tic-for-tac with insanty. However I want to touch on this “Tea Party Is About Sex” thing Frances Fox Piven goes on about.

First, I like to note I am not that much of a Social Conservative. I have a live-let-live when it comes to sex. You over 18 and it’s consensual, then it’s no business of mine or the government. Second, I am for Civil Unions for everyone. Again, over 18 and just between two people. Marriage should be a religious institution and your local church should be free to marry whoever they wish for whatever reason (they should be protected if they don’t want to marry a gay couple for example). I’m much more of a Libertarian when it comes to social issues.

Also, while I am Pro-Life, I don’t think we can put that genie back in the bottle any time soon. It will take time and education. In the mean time, I rather not pay for someone’s elses abortion that I don’t believe in. This can be done in repealing ObamaCare.

With that out of the way, I feel more at comfortable with Social Conservatives than Progressives or Liberals. It’s basicly, when you break it all down, all about clean and healthy living with them. The “Sex, Drugs, And Rock-n-Roll” life-style never works out. Heck, even a lot of rock musicians become clean because they realized that the life-style will kill them.

Frances Fox Piven completely misses the point of the Tea Party. While most Tea Party people are in fact Social Conservatives, what really galvenized them into action was government over-reach. We have no problem with government, but when they become our bankers and/or car makers, then we know they have crossed the line. We also believe that power comes from the bottom up, not top down.

I also dispute her accertion that Tea Party people are all rich and older. I am 30, unemployed, and very broke. I haven’t had steady work since I was 28. I don’t think much, if any, of the Tea Party people in my area are rich-rich. There is a lot of small business owners in the group, but mostly average joes like me.

Frances Fox Piven “[doesn't] have any data on this”, so her entire argument falls apart. We shouldn’t be surprised however, Liberals and Progressives love to pull accertions and facts out of thin air.
