Carter and Mubarak on Netanyahu’s speech – priceless
Jimmy Carter, who may not have been the worst President ever but is certainly the worst ex-President ever, says that Netanyahu is ruining everything:
“In my opinion, Netanyahu brought up several obstacles to peace in his speech that others before him have not placed,” Carter told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday.
“He insists on settlement expansion, demands that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state even though 20% of Israel’s citizens are not Jewish,” the former US president said.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was apparently reading from the same teleprompter:
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak blasted Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech on Sunday saying “Netanyahu’s demand that Palestinians recognize Israel as the Jewish state is ruining the chance for peace,” Egyptian news agencies reported on Monday.
Mubarak further added that “not Egypt, nor any other Arab country would support Netanyahu’s approach.”
So having the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Islamic Republic of Iran, etc. is fine, but the idea of wanting a Jewish state is an “obstacle” to peace.
