Trump Was the Biggest Loser during the South Carolina Debate
Donald was whiney, uncivil and so very un-presidential. He threw Trumpertantrum after Trumpertantrum, interrupted again and again and was booed over and over.Read More »
After many months of training, after many years of great political hardship, the Conservative, Tea Party, and Republican Americans are all assembled. We’ve huddled, poured over maps, dug deep into strategy and tactics. We have queued up to run for all manner of elective office in massive numbers. We’ve been enraged, and engaged, as never before. Now, the battle nearly joined, we await expectantly, excitedly, nervously in the quonset huts, crouching behind the batteries, in the tents, yearning for the dawn on November Second. Then, we will storm the beaches.
This truly is to be an epic battle for the heart, soul, and conscience of America. This isn’t a skirmish, a police action. This is something far, far greater. In the early morning mists, one can verily hear the words of Ike…
You are about to embark upon a Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the Democrat majority, the elimination of statist tyranny over the oppressed peoples of the United States, and will add to ourselves security in a darkening world
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.
But this is the year 2010! Much has happened since the Democrat triumphs of 2006-08. The conservative movement has inflicted upon the Democrats great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our offensives in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Virginia have seriously reduced the Democrats capacity to wage war on the ground. Our home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in electoral numbers, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained, outstanding candidates. The tide has turned! the free men and women of the world are marching together to a mighty Victory!
I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!
Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.*
Now, make no mistake: the vast armies of stern, serious, enthused conservatives flooding the polling places on November 2nd is but a fly-speck when compared to hitting the beaches at Normandy in the early hours of June 6th, 1944. But, the battle against statist tyranny and for the future for our children, and our children’s children, is no less real. My father was part of the invasion force of Italy after Anzio, and he is more worried now about the future of our nation than he ever was in the 1940’s. This, while no guns are firing, no paratroopers are jumping, no ack-ack is exploding, is every bit as real a struggle for the future of our noble experiment in liberty, and faith, and justice, and freedom, than it was in 1944. In some ways, perhaps it is more so. Today, the adversaries of liberty and freedom and the American Way of Life are not in far-off, distant lands; they roam the very streets of America itself.
Prepare your hearts: There will be casualties– The senate may not fall, Harry Reid may slither back to his Majority Leader’s chair. Prince Andrew Cuomo may reign in Albany. Any number of things may go wrong.
But, when Monte was pinned down at Caen, or when the Americans were stuck in the French hedgerow country in the summer of 1944, they didn’t get back in the boats and go home to England. They fought with magnificent, tear-provoking courage. They still faced Market Garden, The Bulge, Bastogne. And in this manner, we shall face 2012, 2014…
They all knew the boats would be waiting for them, when the time finally came.
*Here follows the actual text of Gen. Dwight Eisenhower’s address to the Allied Expeditionary Force on June 6th, 1944:
Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the American Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking. SIGNED: Dwight D. Eisenhower
