I have found myself turning to history in an attempt to wrap my mind around the mess that has been made of our once great nation. Just to give you a little perspective: When I was born, Carter was President, but the first Commander in Chief I remember was Reagan. I was 10 when the Berlin Wall fell, and the world seemed like it had entered a new and great era of hope and peace. The Cold War was Over, and thus teaching about Communism, its Doctrine, and its quest for world domination all but stopped. Last month I was visiting my father (an avid historian and collector of books) about a month ago and I raided his bookshelf. I came across several really good (and really pertinent) old books from the 1950’s and 1960’s, and have been spending most of my free time since then studying them.
One of the best books I found was actually a textbook called The Naked Communist by W. Cleon Skousen. This book was designed to be read by high school seniors and college underclassmen to educate them about all aspects of Marxism, Socialism and Communism. Below is a quote that seem to be relevant to the current conundrum the USA has found herself in.
“Stand your ground. Put on an air of injured innocence. You are not a ‘Communist’, just a ‘Progressive’ whose record proves you have always fought for the rights of labor. Rally all of your ‘Liberal” friends around you. If necessary, hire a lawyer to fight the case through on the grounds that your reputation has been badly damaged. Meanwhile, pull every string you can yo get this business quashed. Use Currie, White (Harry dexter White, the top Treasury Department Official), anybody else you know and trust.”
