In what has got to be one of the biggest examples of chutzpah by any group at any time in American history, AMPAC- the American Muslim Political Action Committee- is organizing a Million Muslim march on Washington DC on September 11, 2013. The reason for this march is best explained by AMPAC executive director, Isa Hodge. Claiming that Muslims were equally traumatized by the events of 9/11/01, he goes on to state:
Yet our government sits idly by and does nothing to protect our freedoms or it exacerbates the problem with its constant war on terrorism in Islamic countries , congressional hearings on Islam in America, and its changes to the NDAA law. These lies told to the American people has made it impossible for us to do true dawa.
Dawa, for those of you who are not aware, is the practice of Islamic proselytizing or preaching. Technically, it is an "invitation" to join the faith through understanding of Mohammed in the hope and belief that one will convert to Islam thus growing the "ummah," or Muslim community.
This action, or even the proposal of it, is so offensive on so many levels. This makes the Ground Zero mosque controversy look like small potatoes. This is infinitely worse than a neo-Nazi march through a Jewish neighborhood, something I am sure the fine folks at AMPAC would equally support not on constitutional grounds, but on a shared hatred of Jews. Imagine a Thousand Tory march on Washington on July 4, 1784 or a Million Japanese March on December 7, 1950. This is infinitely worse. While some were fretting about the iconic picture of firemen raising an American flag on the rubble of the Twin Towers as part of the museum at Ground Zero, these clowns at AMPAC decided to up the ante.
I doubt very much that most Muslims experienced the same trauma felt by others on September 11, 2001. That is only confirmed by Hodge's statement where he and his organization hold to the belief that terrorists were somehow justified in hijacking planes and killing innocent people because American troops were in their holy lands. To this group, killing a terrorist on their soil instead of domestically is perverse and only "exacerbates" the problem. Being Muslim, it is quite doubtful they have any remorse regarding the concept of jihad for if they did, then they would not be true Muslims. Jihad is, after all, one of the pillars of Shi'ia Islam. This is not intended to be an indictment of Islam, but to deny that the events of 9/11 were perpetrated, planned and bankrolled by Muslims is a denial of reality. And, quite frankly, Islam is a religion born and spread by the sword, not "proselytizing." In fact, in many Muslim countries where true proselytizing occurs, the proselytizer is met with that same sword across their neck. Come to think of it, I cannot recall any jihads in the name of Christianity unless one subscribes to the liberal rewriting of the history of the Crusades. I cannot remember the last Christian to behead a citizen in broad daylight for the world to see while invoking the name of Jesus Christ. Proselytizing to a Christian is good deeds and dialogue; to a Muslim, it is a sword...or knife...or airplane.
What Muslims most fear is exposure to Western thought and culture because, frankly, it is superior to their near-Stone Age definition of existence. Yet, they are not averse to using our pillars of Western civilization for their own gain and some of those pillars are enshrined in the Bill of Rights, like freedom of religion and speech and assembly. Are there any of these things truly present in any Muslim country? Is there any concept of the rights of women? The slave trade ended in the West, yet some forms still persist with nary a blink of an eye, in some Muslim countries. In a country where homosexuals are somewhat "accepted," they are put to death in Muslim countries. Obama cancels meetings with Putin because he speaks out against homosexuals then bows to the leader of an Islamic country that puts homosexuals to death. Freedom of religion is non-existent or mere words in Muslim countries. Just ask a Christian in Nigeria or Egypt or Saudi Arabia.
According to Jihad Watch, a website that chronicles the "peaceful" religion of Islam, in July of this year there was 306 jihadi actions by Muslims spread over 21 countries leaving 1,548 dead bodies and 2,878 critically injured people in their wake. Five different religions- mainly Christian- were the targets of these attacks. Since September 11, 2001, there have been 21,417 Islamic terrorist actions resulting in death or injury. Just this past week alone, the death toll in the name of Allah is 333 and counting. Many of these attacks go unreported by the media and occur in countries like Nigeria or Mauritania where most Americans cannot even locate them on a map. Some of these deaths and attacks are Muslim on Muslim- one sect against the other- Shiite versus Sunni. There is currently a Youtube video of two teens being summarily executed to cries of "Allah Akbar." Their crime? They do not support Islamic extremist fighters in Syria. Incidentally, jury trials and due process are two other Western ideals absent in Muslim countries. It is estimated that 70% of Christians killed at the hands of Muslims in 2012 occurred in Nigeria. Yet, this country protects the depiction of a crucifix in a jar of urine and frowns on any depiction- salutatory or not- of Mohammed. Something is seriously wrong here.
Regarding Hodge's claim that Muslims in America are being persecuted for the attacks of September 11, 2001, if anything this country has been more lenient than anything exhibited in any Muslim country. Can one imagine a white Christian flying a plane into a building in Mecca crying "Jesus?" Every Christian in Saudi Arabia would have been rounded up, jailed, tortured and executed. And the so-called Arab street would have erupted in chants of jubilation as their bodies were dragged through the streets. In this country, we wring our hands and pontificate against alleged "hate crimes." And, quite honestly, some groups invite persecution because of actions in the name of that group- in this case, Islam. Instead of targeting the group that caused the carnage to prevent it in the immediate future, we search old ladies and children at airports. And speaking of persecution by the government, the Obama administration considers domestic terrorism, or right-wing groups, a bigger threat than Muslims. In no defense of that nut case David Koresh, the FBI, ATF and local law enforcement has not stormed any mosque in this country to the best of my knowledge with guns blazing and concussion grenades.
Thankfully, ANPAC's Million Muslim March Facebook page so far has exactly five confirmed attendees, considerably short of the one million they hope to get. The mere fact that they would have a march to redress their alleged grievances and then choose an emotionally charged date like September 11th is a disgrace and a pox on their religion. Instead of marching on Washington in a show of solidarity, a more appropriate "celebration" for Muslims would be picking a US embassy somewhere, burning it down, and killing the ambassador. That is the not so distant past of Muslims. As for Isa Hodge and the rest of the brain trust at AMPAC, they are lucky to live in this country and enjoy the freedoms we take for granted that a Muslim in any other country can only dream about. Hodge is an American convert to Islam. My suggestion is that he live in a Muslim country and see if the freedoms he currently enjoys as an American citizen are identical to the "freedoms" of those countries. Of course, being Muslim, he will likely return to the United States extolling the virtues of Sharia law and life on the edges of the Stone Age. Then again, this march could serve a potential service. Where else can the FBI and law enforcement get photos of one million potential terrorists all at once?
