Whereas since the creation of the world, people have grown and consumed plants, which is a natural, God-given right that pre-dates any government or government law,
Whereas the 10th Amendment states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people,”
Whereas the first Principle listed in the 2012 Republican Party of Texas Platform calls for “strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. and Texas Constitutions,”
Whereas the plan entitled “Limited Federal Powers” in the 2012 Republican Party of Texas Platform states, “We strongly support state sovereignty reserved under the Tenth Amendment and oppose mandates beyond the scope of federal authority, as defined in the U.S. Constitution. We further support abolition of federal agencies involved in activities not originally delegated to the federal government under a strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution,”
Whereas the plan entitled “Law Enforcement” in the 2012 Republican Party of Texas Platform states, “We support limitation of criminal jurisdiction of federal law-enforcement agencies into state and local jurisdictions and encourage them to enforce the laws under federal jurisdiction,”
Therefore, Be it Resolved we support Texas sovereignty and oppose federal laws which criminalize the natural right of individuals to grow and consume plants.
