Did you see the great article by Tony Lee on Breitbart.com entitled: NORQUIST: CRUZ MUST 'APOLOGIZE' TO REPUBLICANS FOR DEFUNDING STRATEGY?
In the article, Lee states:
“Continuing his relentless verbal assaults against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his strategy to defund Obamacare, Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, accused Cruz last week of weakening the Republican Party. He said Cruz needed to apologize to Republicans who were supposedly misled about his strategy. "Ted Cruz is a very bright, very serious conservative, but in this case and in a couple of cases earlier, he doesn't think through things strategically," Norquist said. "If you do something, then what will Obama do in return? What would Harry Reid do in return? When you're playing chess, the other team gets to make a move too.
What Norquist failed to mention was that establishment Republicans like himself also threw stones at Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), allowing the mainstream media and Democrats to cite them and pile on in their criticism of conservatives behind the defunding Obamacare strategy, which negatively impacted public opinion. In addition, he also failed to note that Cruz said Democrats from red states would be pressured more effectively if all Republicans were united behind the defunding Obamacare strategy from the beginning, which they never were."
Hey Grover, maybe you should consider adding the following to the end of your pledge:
“Notwithstanding the foregoing, Pledgor may freely break the foregoing pledge at any time if: (1) honoring the pledge will be difficult for Pledgor, especially if Democrats disagree and make a counter move, or (2) Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Candy Crowley, Al Sharpton or Grover Norquist issues a demand for Pledgor to break the pledge; or (3) Pledgor believes that a complete surrender is in order for any reason (provided, however, that Pledgor may only exercise this exemption if Pledgor, before surrendering, wages an all-out crusade against those that choose to stick to the original pledge, especially if those choosing to stay and fight are in Pledgor’s same party).
Does that sound about right, Grover?
Stay strong Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and the other brave members of Congress that are choosing to fight and shine a spotlight on the dangerous status quo of “tax, spend and raise the debt limit whenever you hit it.” You have millions of people in both parties that share your concerns and are happy that you are courageous enough to take on the permanently entrenched D.C. ruling class that contains members of both parties.
