1. The Democrats’ Official Talking Point: If you oppose the Democrats’ plans for healthcare, you are a corporate stooge and not a real American

As I wrote a while back, “Ben Smith, writing in the Politico, tells us Barack Obama’s allies meet every morning by conference call at 8:45 a.m. to build their talking points. The calls operate as a left-wing character assassination squad run by John Podesta of the Center for American Progress (“CAP”). Podesta was also Co-Chairman of the Obama-Biden Transition Project. In addition, CAP’s political wing runs a website called Think Progress, which coordinates online messaging among leftwing bloggers.”

Think Progress and, therefore, the Democrats and online left, have decided to smear Americans opposed to Obamacare as corporate shills, much as they ridiculed tea party protestors as corporate shills. They aren’t doing it to persuade the public, they are doing it to reassure wavering Democrats in Congress. Those wavering Democrats can just repeat over and over “these voters are bought and paid for by the insurance community.”

See, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity — lobbyist funded right wing shills according to the left — are encouraging people to ask probing questions of their congressmen. How dare they. That is only acceptable when union funded left-wing groups like ACORN do it.

Americans for Prosperity is referred to here as “lobbyist funded.” Here too, Think Progress refers to protests at congressional town halls as “lobbyist funded.” And the lobbyist funded stooges who keep showing up are hostile and angry. Clearly the lobbyists paid the protestors extra for the anger.

Here is the funniest one. Joseph Richardson received a letter from Senator Conrad responding to one Joseph sent the senator. But Joseph never sent the letter. “The forged letter was likely a result of astroturfing,” Think Progress concludes with no evidence at all.

See that? You can’t trust any opinion that deviates from the left. They are all bought and paid for by dirty lobbyists, just like Think Progress is bought and paid for by unions. It does take one to know one.

2. Politico Smears ‘ObamaCare’ Opponents

Politico, ever the objective source of political news and analysis, has provided a handy list of “5 Things to Watch During the Recess.” One in particular caught my attention because it was so egregiously loaded with bias:

#4: Who Will Come to the Tea Parties?

In it, they refer to those opposed to Obamacare as “anti-reform protestors.”

3. Liz Cheney takes on Barack Obama’s Foreign Policy

A partial transcript of Liz Cheney’s remarks to the RedState Gathering:

Earlier on a trip to Mexico City, our President listened to an extended anti-American screed by Nicaurgan President Daniel Ortega. And then he let the lies stand. His only response was, “I’m just grateful President Ortega didn’t blame me for things that happened when I was three months old.” Americans expect our President to defend us against lies, not embrace or ignore them. But we also expect our President to know his history. Some of the most dangerous steps this President has taken cause one to wonder how much time he has actually spent studying the history of the 20th century. In Russia, and earlier in France, President Obama declared that American nuclear disarmament would encourage the North Koreans and the Iranians to give up their nuclear ambitions.

Another Democratic President, one who led us at the beginning of the cold war, understood the danger of this approach. President Harry Truman, in April of 1950, signed a national security strategy document that pointed out “No people in history have preserved their freedom who thought that by not being strong enough to protect themselves they might prove inoffensive to their enemies.” Avoiding causing offense to our enemies has become a central tenet of President Obama’s foreign policy.

It was this attempt to placate, to appease, not to cause offense that prevented President Obama from defending the rights of the brave Iranian men and women demanding free and fair elections. It was this instinct that drove him to declare, while the Iranian mullahs were having their own people shot in the streets, “there was a debate underway in Iran.” It is this instinct that seems to be driving our incomprehensible policy of support for a thug in Honduras, a close ally of Hugo Chavez, against the wishes and constitutional rights of the Honduran people.

And it’s this desire that drives the President to plead with our enemies to talk at all costs. It puts America in a position of weakness, one that will not and cannot secure American interests.

Now as a veteran of the State Department, I can tell you that effective diplomacy is not about appeasing your enemy. It’s not about unilateral pre-emptive disarmament. America has to negotiate from a position of strength. To survive as a nation, our President can’t function as a disinterested international arbitrator. He can’t attempt to stand above America and our enemies. In other words, America needs a Commander in Chief, not a Global Community Organizer.

4. Gibbs overrules Geithner & Summers

Yesterday we had Geithner and Summers saying “the deficits that we have brought on are too high, so we may have to raise taxes on the middle class” (well, they didn’t say the “that we brought on” part, but they should have…).

Now we have White House press secretary Robert Gibbs overriding them. Anyone believe him?

5. Durbin Isn’t So Much with the Reading Polls Thing

Last week we discussed that one of the main reasons the Democrats are trying to rush the Obamacare fight is that public support for the plan is falling like a rock, and Obamacare supporters are hoping to keep fence-sitting blue dogs from discovering just how unpopular the plan is with their districts back home. That plan isn’t working too well as Democrat after Democrat is facing hordes of angry opposition from constituents at healthcare townhall meetings. Electorally safe Democrats like Dick Durbin are now attempting to quell Blue Dog fears by asserting that all these people attending townhalls are fake. This is the man who called American soldiers fighting in Iraq “nazis”.
