1. Happy Warriors Still

It is easy in the face of what happened tonight to sound or become defeatist. You mustn’t.Freedom needs you now more than ever. The fight has only just begun. But we must be clear what the strategy is and what the battle plan looks like.Tonight the Democrats voted to put people in jail who have no insurance, raise the costs of health care, destroy the federal government’s bond rating, keep unemployment high, and kill forever the mythological creature known as the pro-life Democrat. On Friday, Rush Limbaugh said we should remember that there is a difference between the Democrats and Republicans. That is true. We see it tonight. But we need to be crystal clear on something — the Republican leadership remains accommodationist and fearful of being labeled the ‘party of no.’Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit to you again that it is not enough to just throw out the Democrats in favor of Republicans. We must throw out the Democrats and replace them with the right kind of Republicans — conservatives who actually are conservative. And then we must insist that these newly elected Republicans not settle for the status quo in leadership. What is now need not be left in place.Already we have a few Republicans positioning themselves in grand theatrics to call for full repeal of Obamacare. But these same Republicans in the past have talked about the good parts of the bill and how repeal should be measured. The only way to ensure today’s rhetoric turns into future consistent actions is to surround these Republicans with true conservative warriors.Friends, if we are going to destroy the Democrats, we must first build up an army of real conservatives in Congress. Half measures, Democrat-lite, and men who compromise in favor of more government must be unacceptable.Let me be blunt: any Republican who says we will repeal and replace will themselves be replaced. We want repeal period. This is not to say we will not offer up our own ideas, of which there are many. This is to say that right now there is no consensus on what to replace this monstrosity with, so instead of nuancing just promise to repeal it. We don’t need cute and clever politicians right now, we need a commitment to repeal Obamacare. Now, here is what we must do. The time for choosing is over. The time for fence sitting is at an end. If you are committed to the cause of freedom, if you are in it for the fight, if you want to win, you need to listen closely. Please click here for the rest of the post.

2. Come What May

The GOP can now do a couple of things:1. Pledge immediate repeal in toto of Obamacare. No nibbling at the edges — the whole thing and we pledge our lives, fortunes, and honor to crushing any member of Republican leadership who refuses to get on the full repeal bandwagon.2. Pledge to adopt for their own use the exact same rules under which Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have governed the House of Representatives, except for those parts about letting members like Charlie Rangel continue to be committee chairmen. If your legislator has not signed on to the Club For Growth’s Repeal It website, we need to get them fully on board. Please click here for the rest of the post.

3. We Can’t Let Bart Stupak Go Without A Judas Like Parting Gift

We can’t Bart Stupak go without a parting gift. Judas, after all, got 30 silver coins to sell out our Lord. Stupak needs something for selling out all the children sent off to be slaughtered thanks to his “compromise” that any President can pen away to oblivion — notwithstanding the questionable legal assumptions behind it.Let’s send him 100 silver coins. It’s only a $4.00 investment on your part.Order them and send them to:Congressman Bart Stupak (you’ll not want to use the word honorable)

4. List of Items for the GOP to Begin Investigating Once They Take Back Power

There are a number of things the GOP will need to launch investigations over once it takes back power. As is usually the case, the party opposite that of the White House will make inquiries into a host of items once in control of Congress. With today’s health care vote coming, it is time to begin considering what investigations there will be.Here is my initial list. Please click here for the rest of the post.

5. Is the AFL-CIO Getting Federal Dollars to Support Health Care Deform?

Ever heard of the American Center for International Labor Solidarity?Well, the ACILS is a cover from the AFL-CIO. Same group. Different name.See, Congress can funnel money to the AFL-CIO through this front group and no one can attack the AFL-CIO because who the heck has ever heard of ACILS.Well, the AFL-CIO is now endorsing health care deform despite the excise tax in the legislation that creates a HUGE tax burden on workers. In fact, the Machinists Union is wholly opposed to the health benefits tax. Tom Buffenbarger, the Machinists’ union leader, is flat out at war over this provision and lots of union leaders are wondering why the heck the AFL-CIO decided to line up behind legislation that taxes union workers. Please click here for the rest of the post.

6. Ensuring Barack Obama’s Second Term

Obama is telling the Democrats that if health care deform passes his presidency is successful and if it does not, his presidency fails. What he means is that in order for Barack Obama to be successful, the Democrats in Congress must fail. All politicians are survivalists. Obama has convinced the Democrats in Congress that they’ll all survive if health care deform passes. But in reality, Obama knows if health care deform passes, the Republicans will take back Congress. If the Republicans take back Congress, Obama will have someone to actually run against. It is very hard to run against the opposition when the opposition controls nothing. So Democrats will pass health care deform. They will be crushed at the polls. This will give Barack Obama a second term — at least that is his calculus. It’s pretty smart of him. It is also amazing to watch the entire Democratic caucus lay day willingly in front of Obama’s unsatiated bus to ensure Obama a second term at their own expense — not that he’ll actually get one, mind you. But that is his plan. Please click here for the rest of the post.

7. No Quarter: How Left-Wing Blogs Seek To Destroy Us Rather Than Debate Us

If you have been reading or writing blogs for some time, you may recall the early, heady days of the blogosphere back around 2002-03. Many of us old-school bloggers started back then (I started writing baseball on the web in May 2000, and political blogging in August 2002; RedState wouldn’t be founded until the summer of 2004). The blog world was a small town in those days, where everybody knew everybody, nobody was too big to respond to emails, comments or trackbacks (remember trackbacks?), and for all the fire of political debate, there was a broad-based sense that blogs constituted a community of interest that crossed party lines. Bloggers were glad to see recognition given to blogs and bloggers, engaged in debate across ideological lines, and in some cases informal alliances sprung up, as when blogs on the right and left alike united to drive media interest in ousting Trent Lott as GOP Senate Majority Leader after the 2002 elections over his comments about Strom Thurmond. Sites like The Command Post, which followed the blow-by-blow of the Iraq War, featured contributors from both sides of the political spectrum (myself included, along with others who would later become contributors at RedState). I don’t want to overstate the degree of comity or idealize that era, but there was at least some degree of prevailing ethos that bloggers – amateurs using the internet to gather news and offer citizen punditry – had something in common even when their partisan and ideological interests diverged. Please click here for the rest of the post.Lastly, don’t forget to tune to CNN at 7:00 p.m. ET tonight and see me on John King, USA.
