1. You Know Your Enemies And They Stand Before You

There simply are no words to describe the damage inflicted yesterday by Democrats upon America, her citizens, and the millions around the globe who look to America for hope – as the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Make no mistake about it – what happened yesterday was not brave, it was cowardly. It was not the best of America, it was the worst. And – at least with respect to the vote itself – it was not Republicans, it was Democrats. President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and every other Democrat who sold his soul for 30 shekels of silver ignored the clear will of the American people. It was brazen. It was arrogant. And, it was a thumb in the eye of democracy, liberty, and most of all, the American people.

But rest easy. For now you know your enemies. And they stand before you.

For too many years, America has been attacked quietly – the serpent waiting patiently for his prey, striking only periodically. Starting primarily with the New Deal, incremental socialism as President Reagan famously observed, has been slowly eating away at the great American fabric of individual self-reliance, personal responsibility and limited government… Government program by government program, inch-by-inch, career politician-by-career politician… Democrat AND Republican. For decades, you have been losing your God-given and hard-fought birthright of freedom as surely as the vote that slapped you in the face yesterday.

But now… now, you know. Your enemy is clear. And the enemy has made clear their intentions – and that is the complete re-making of America.

2. Senior Congressional Staff EXEMPT From Health Care Bill

The New Ledger has the news thanks to Ben Domenech.

“One such surprise is found on page 158 of the legislation, which appears to create a carveout for senior staff members in the leadership offices and on congressional committees, essentially exempting those senior Democrat staffers who wrote the bill from being forced to purchase health care plans in the same way as other Americans.”

John Edwards was right — there are two Americas. The one the Democratic legislators live in and the one the rest of us live in.

3. Why this time is different

The Eeyores of the conservative movement are all over this Obamacare vote, declaring that we’re doomed to perpetual socialism because Republicans never repeal anything. To them I say: bah. We’ve never been in this situation before, where we’ll actually win an election on the heels of passage.

Social Security: Passed in 1935. Republicans take House and Senate in 1947, 12 years later.

Medicare and Medicaid: Passed in 1965. Republicans take Senate in 1981, 16 years later.

Obamacare: Passed in 2010. Republicans take House in 2011, one year (9 months, actually) later?

There’s just no comparison. We can fight back before much of it even takes effect, not over a decade later when the benefits are entrenched. No excuses. No pessimism. Fight and win, politically.

4. Repeal the Bill. No Deals. No Fixes. No Compromise.

Democrats simply do not believe Republicans would have the fortitude to repeal it even if they do win Majorities in both Houses of Congress. They believe the GOP would dilly-dally, tarry and dither, worrying about “bipartisanship”, fretting over liberal editorial pages and cancelled invitations to swanky dinner parties, with some Republicans even after five decades to the contrary believing that there is some sort of deal or compromise that would make the unions like them, until the massive new government bureaucracy is in place, thoroughly unionized and funneling billions (1/6th of the American economy, after all) into Democratic campaign coffers. In the mean time, the grass roots opposition would die down and leave the battlefield of public opinion to the Democrats and their allies in the media to win the middle to their side.

By the time the GOP would realize it, it would be too late. Flush with taxpayer dollars kicked back to them by their newly inaugurated government healthcare bureaucrat union bosses, the Democrats would roar back into massive Majorities on the votes of an electorate now thoroughly dependent on government-run healthcare.

That’s the Beltway conventional wisdom.

We need to prove it wrong, just like it was wrong that this could never pass.

Every single Republican must pledge to vote for repeal, year in and year out. And like the Democrats in passing it; by any means necessary.

5. Dick Cheney vs. the Tea Party

It did not do Kay Bailey Hutchison any good in Texas, but she made the most of Dick Cheney endorsing her.

In Utah, Bob Bennett has lined up Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and Dick Cheney — calling in every imaginable favor to show he is the preferred candidate of the Republican Party.

In other years that might help Bob Bennett, but as Utah Republicans go off to their caucuses tonight it will not help him. As we have extensively documented at RedState, Bob Bennett has been out of touch with Utah for a very long time. In fact, with Utah widely considered the most conservative state in the nation, it is appalling that Bob Bennett would be rated by the American Conservative Union as the 8th most liberal Republican in the Senate.

But Bennett’s record shows just how liberal he is, except when his job is in jeopardy. This is one of those rare times where I must disagree with Vice President Cheney. Utah Tea Party activists are lined up to replace Bennett and I hope they do.

RedState has chronicled just how bad Bob Bennett is. I have put it all together in a handy 2 page background paper that you can download, print, and take to the caucuses in Utah today.

Today is the day we begin taking back the GOP. If you are in Utah, show up at the caucuses tonight and help dump Bob Bennett.
