At Least One Indiana Republican Is Showing True Leadership Skills

Mike Pence was on CNN earlier today and Candy Crowley asked him about Mitch Daniels’ proposed truce on social issues.Pence handled it as a real conservative should. He said he “believes with all of [his] heart that Republicans need to continue to fight for the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage with everything [they]‘ve got in 2010 and in 2012.” But he then refused to engage in beating up Mitch Daniels.Robert Costa notes the media’s growing wisdom on this point, which this afternoon is seemingly shared by some Republicans (note: I said Republicans, not conservatives). Mark Halperin, leading the Gang of 500 to its conventional wisdom endpoint says Pence is seeking a truce on ‘truce’ when given the opportunity to go after Daniels.Nonsense. Daniels, without prompting, chose to pick an unneeded fight with social conservatives. That is not leadership.Mike Pence, on the other hand, stood up for the sanctity of life while choosing not to attack Mitch Daniels. That, my friends, is real leadership.Fighting back against Daniels is not needed when his stupid remark, and now seemingly Daniels himself, are best ignored while reaffirming conservative principles.Anyone know where I can get a Pence 2012 bumper sticker?
