Dog Bites Man: White House that has repeatedly defied court orders and the separation of powers under the U.S. Constitution, refuses to condemn Muslim Brotherhood President they supported during "Arab Spring" for acting like the Islamist fascists they have always been
Less than 24 hours after being praised by President Barack Obama for brokering a ceasefire to stop the Israeli counterattack against Hamas’ rocket-firing jihadis in Gaza, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi issued an edict unilaterally amending his nation's constitution granting himself dictatorial powers:
“We have decided … [that presidential decisions] are final and binding and cannot be appealed by any way or to any entity,” said Morsi’s Nov. 22 statute, which also re-assembled the Islamist-dominated parliament that was dissolved in the summer by the judiciary.
Obama was not embarrassed by Morsi’s power grab immediately after the imposed ceasefire, Carney said. “We see those as separate issues,” he said.
But Morsi’s takeover threatens to shift Egypt’s populist, Islam-friendly democratic “Arab Spring” into a hardline Islamist theocracy, similar to Iran, that is hostile to democracy and peace with Israel.
Under Islam’s Shariah law, Western-style rights are supplanted by imams’ edicts, which give Muslim men power over Muslim women, Christians and Jews. An Islamic theocracy would also be hostile to non-Muslim states, especially to the nearby Jewish-majority state of Israel.
No one should be surprised that the White House Press Secretary of our recently re-elected Chief Executive declared his boss as merely "concerned" about the edict and refused to condemn the action despite denunciations from Egypt's judicial branch and democracy advocates. After all, this is an American president that taunted the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court while a captive audience at the 2010 State of the Union address, and:
- Defied federal court orders declaring his post-BP Oil Spill, deep-water drilling moratorium illegal;
- Challenged state photo/voter ID laws that had already been upheld by the nation's highest court;
- Weakened work requirements in the wildly successful Clinton-Gingrich welfare reform law by executive fiat; and
- Defied congressional rejection of the "Dream Act" by declaring certain categories of illegal immigrants immune from deportation.
President Obama regularly practices executive overreach in his war on the coal industry via EPA regulations and in his quest to re-define the First Amendment's Free Exercise Clause as merely freedom of worship via HHS regs requiring religious institutions to provide morning after abortion pills. In many areas of American life, the Rule of Law so many patriots died to establish in contravention of the edicts of King George and a far away parliament with no elected representatives, has been usurped by Obamacare's "Secretary shall decide" arbitrary power.
His Secretary of State has long employed the unapologetic daughter of the Muslim Brotherhood progenitors of al Qaeda and Hamas. His silence was deafening when Iran's Mullahs who are the major benefactor of Hamas, were mowing down freedom-seeking young people in the streets of Tehran. His church of 20 years honored the racist he calls "Minister" Farrakhan while his butt was parked in Rev. Wright's pews.
America's president long ago ceased to be the Leader of the Free World as America gets less free at home. And yet, a majority asked for four more years of the same. Think that Republicans' opposition to employer mandates to provide free birth control pills is a "war on women"? Obama backs the Sharia-law loving Muslim Brotherhood.
Need more evidence that President Obama is comfortable with less than self-government? Last year, taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks. In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.
