The Hunger Games have been pushed too far outside of the Capitol City for the Old Dominion to maintain its former conservative ways.
No one should be shocked that Democrats nominate and that eligible American voters elect liberal rogues, even
in supposed red Southern states or the nation writ large. Given the successful election and re-election of a community organizer that uses the IRS to disorganize conservative tea party Republican campaign efforts; no one should be surprised that a state increasingly dominated by shining towers funded by tax dollars from the Lower Forty-Eight, and laundered in the adjacent District of Columbia, would elect a man formerly know as the Clintons' flunky fundraising punk.
Witness Terry McAuliffe rendered the "respectable" holder of the office formerly occupied by Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and three other former presidents of the United States, by virtue of yesterday's 47.1% to 46.3% Virginia gubernatorial victory over conservative Republican Ken Cuccinelli:
You have just witnessed the latest evidence for why the Solid conservative South is no more. You have just witnessed why Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) rightly held the floor of the U.S. Senate for nearly 24 hours to make clear to future voters that no fingerprints from the Party of Lincoln and Reagan can be found upon Obamacare.
No conservative should have expected the ongoing debacle at HealthCare.gov, even in an off-year election that usually favors GOP get-out-the-vote efforts, to influence a state also know as Greater Washington, D.C., whose powers-that-be were exempted from Obamacare by the royal President Barack Obama power that be. One-term-limited Republican Governor Bob McDonnell couldn't gerrymander a state-wide race after all.
America will not be saved by electoral victories so close to a Capital City whose voters can rationally elect to office those liberal Democrats that fund their perpetual government-run "programs" that pay for their pensions and union dues with tax dollars from Red States, Chinese bondholders or The Fed's printing press. It is those dollars that have prevented D.C., Maryland and the more populous parts of Virginia from being touched by the Obamanomics-wrought ongoing jobs-recession aka Food Stamp Nation-hunger games so prevalent in the non-fracking parts of the less-Fruited Plain.
If America has a future resembling its exceptional past, it will be reclaimed in congressional districts and states not only in a deeper South too remote for commutes to Arlington, but also in New Hampshire, Colorado, Nevada and even California populated by those that receive cancellation notices for insurance policies they liked, but that didn't measure up to paternalistic sex-change-operations-included standards of liberal Democrats like Clintons, Obamas and McAuliffes.
Conservatives and Republicans can't and shouldn't compromise the principles and policies we know are required to right the ship of state. To do so would be to aid and abet the liberal Democrat slouching of America to Gomorrah; only that those with Rs next to their names would get to rearrange the deck chairs on the USA Titanic, if you will forgive the mixing of one-if-by-land and two-if-by-sea metaphors.
We are beyond the tipping point before which the differences between establishment Republicans and Democrats mattered. Democrat Lite won't fix what ails us. But we should and must increase efforts to corral libertarians like Robert Sarvis, whose 6.7% of the Old Dominion vote was critical in carrying Democrats back to Old Virginny. Third parties are Democrats' pals.
