“Pour encourager les autres!! (Why we must hunt RINOs to extinction!)
The full quote is from Voltaire’s “Candide” (1759) and refers to the court martial, and execution of the British Admiral Byng in 1757:
“Dans ce pays-ci, il est bon de temps en temps un amiral pour encourager les autres!”
“In this country (England) from time to time it is good to kill an admiral, to encourage the others.”
Indeed, after Napoleon was captured and exiled a second time, his favorite commander, Marshal Ney, was executed by the new government, explicitly to encourage Napoleon’s other field marshals, to stay out of politics and not attempt to bring Napoleon back yet again.
We conservatives are civilized. Unlike the contemporary left, who often wishes us dead, we have no desire to “off RINOs. However, we MUST primary them..all of them!
Those who call themselves conservatives but refuse to back defunding Obamacare by any means necessary must face primary opponents. They’ve been allowed to skate by..to go along by getting along, inside the Beltway..for far too long. It is time for them to go.
Graham, Alexander, and McConnell..that’s the trifecta for 2014! Kick ’em out. Along with making may House members accountable for their votes, (or lack of) this will send a clear message to anyone who contemplates running for the White House in 2016.
Today’s announcement by Ted Cruz that he will NOT endorse John Cornyn for re-election is the first step in that direction. And it shows why Rand Paul has no chance in 2016; Paul wimped out by endorsing McConnell.
Cruz stated he he will “stay out” of any GOP primaries. This should be viewed as a warning to the RNC and the RSC to stay out of GOP primaries, and not waste tens of millions on trying to save incumbent Republican RINOs.
It will be very interesting to see what Tim Scott does in South Carolina. The Tea Party, the base, elected Scott to the House…pushed for his appointment to the Senate, will overwhelming vote for him in 2014, and 99.9% of them want nothing more than to vote for Scott and NOT have to vote for the one person who they despise most, whose political scalp they want..Lindsey Graham.
