While there appears to be a happy ending in the works for Chinese Dissident Chen Guangcheng, if you trust the Chinese Communists to keep their new promise to allow him to leave with his family, few media reports tell the story of what he was "dissenting" from and not a single one so far has put this into the context of Vice President Biden's siding with the Communist Chinese against this courageous hero, this past August 21.
That's in keeping with the liberal-left's secular goals and how they slant stories to fit their preconceived notions. It was very skillfully done in the case of Chen and reported nowhere in America until this new RED STATE report.
Even this admission of what Chen Guangcheng was dissenting from is usually at the very end of some (rare) stories, if it appears at all, such as this Voice of America report, last paragraph:
"Chen is a self-taught lawyer and human rights activist who has been blind since childhood. He was given a four-year prison sentence in 2006 for exposing abuses under China's forced abortion policy aimed at population control. He had been under house arrest since 2010, before fleeing on April 22 to the U.S. embassy." (see Voice of America)
The little reported story is that Chen Guangcheng has protested China's forced abortion policy where a Chinese mother who attempts to have a second baby will if caught, be dragged to the hospital by the police and forced to endure a late term abortion - even if it is mere hours before the actual birth.
Notice the silence from the very people in America who were howling to the heavens at the idea that anything might slow down the rush to abort when an expectant mother arrives at a Planned Parenthood abortion mill?
Notice that the very same people who screamed their upset and caused a flood of phone calls and emails to hit state representative offices to protest the "vaginal probe" attack (as they described it) are silent in the face of Chen Guangcheng's protest of women being forced to abort their babies by Chinese authorities who say STOP, you already had your one baby allowed per family?
(read my previous articles detailing this phony use of the phrase "vaginal probe" - the truth is that 99% of all abortions done by Planned Parenthood already include an ultra sound image and 93% of all abortions first have a vaginal probe done - the real issue is whether women will be allowed to see the image of their own baby, or not).
They call this forced abortion policy "population control" in Communist China, as do their American friends who assist in the cover up.
The truth is much worse: it isn't population control, it is forced abortion. And worse still:
The policy means that most families will only have a baby if they can confirm that it is a male child.
The result is that Communist China is a nation with a massively disproportionate population of males, because the girls are being systematically killed in the womb.
While in America the "party line" of the liberal-left (aka the secular left) is to accuse any American conservative who speaks out for the right to life, a of engaging in a "war on women."
The truth is that Chen Guangcheng is one of the foremost defenders of women in the world.
It isn't conservatives who are engaged in the real war on women, it is Communist China, Planned Parenthood, and the Obama Administration.
The truth isn't being reported because it would stand upside down all of the liberal-left's arguments that they are the defenders of women, and conservatives and especially the "Christian-right" are the ones who are enslaving and hurting women.
This has not been reported anywhere until now.
It is a literal fact, that women are being killed in the womb as official government policy, and that one man who stood up against them has been sent to jail, and last week was in the headlines because he has courageously argued against the real war on women - the one where women are being systematically killed.
But isn't America on the side of Chen?
Reminder. It was the same Vice President Biden who is today saying that Chen will be allowed to come to America - who stood on the side of the Communist Chinese and on the side of the real war on women, not very long ago.
Remember this past August 21, 2011 when Joe Biden was in Communist China and gave the full approval of the United States government to this murder of Chinese girls in the womb. Biden said:
"What we ended up doing is setting up a system whereby we did cut by $1.2 trillion upfront, the deficit over the next 10 years. And we set up a group of senators that have to come up with another $1.2 to $1.7 trillion in savings or automatically there will be cuts that go into effect in January to get those savings. So the savings will be accomplished. But as I was talking to some of your leaders, you share a similar concern here in China. You have no safety net. Your policy has been one which I fully understand -- I’m not second-guessing -- of one child per family. The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable."
Lets put this in context.
The "war on women" to American liberals is when Sandra Fluke doesn't get "access" to birth control so she can have sex 7 times a week without letup during her three years at one of the most expensive law schools in the United States, where graduates make a starting income of some $200,000 a year. (see my earlier RED STATE article on this topic).
The word "access" means that the Jesuits who teach at this Catholic University will simply have to "get over" their longstanding teaching against premarital sex, against birth control and against other forms of birth control which they call "infanticide" and PAY for her extra curricular activities. And the liberal left says anyone who dissents from THAT is engaging in a "war on women."
That is called a "women's issue" and in America it is expected to rally a lot of women and sympathetic men to rally to the liberal-left's cause and their candidates this year.
And they expect that those who resent "those priests telling you what you are allowed to do" will argue that this is "freedom" they are campaigning for, and that we on the other side, are engaged in a "war on women."
But in China the "war on women" is where a mother and father learn that their baby is going to be a female and since they are only allowed one, THEY ABORT so they can try again, hoping for a MALE baby who can earn more money and therefore support them in their old age with better earnings.
A baby girl not only doesn't earn as much but when the girl grows older and marries, it is the husband's family that the "man of the house" concerns himself with, not the wife's family.
So it is a "life and death" issue to Chinese couples, who only get one "chance" to have a baby, to KILL the baby if it is a girl, and let it live if it is a boy.
This little reported fact is what Vice President Joe Biden was using the euphemism to describe as the "one child per family" policy of Communist China, and where he said that the alternative to the Chinese policy of letting the baby girls live is "not sustainable."
Such an understanding man is our Vice President.
And, "China will maintain its one-child policy for at least another decade, the country's family planning minister said... The policy, begun in the 1970s, prohibits most couples from bearing more than one child. (see CNN article)
Chai Ling, a two-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee and former leader of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Democracy Movement, reported that she was "shocked" by the Vice President's statement while in China.
" 'On behalf of all the Chinese women and girls,' she says, Biden’s 'statements are very hurtful. The one-child policy means the child has to be killed, whether it is forced or coerced through pressure. The women don’t feel like they have a choice.'"
This theme of women being forced to abort a second child was actually a central part of one of best selling author Tom Clancy's books focusing on Red China, many years ago - the women was actually dragged to the hospital to have a late term, last minute abortion just as the baby was being born.
Even liberal columnist and Fox TV commentator Kirsten Powers objected, saying,
"The 'one-child' policy is a barbaric practice aimed squarely at women and has had the effect of wiping out generations of girls. If this isn’t a top women’s-rights issue in the world, I don’t know what is. And it’s not just limited to China. When Biden says he isn’t 'second-guessing' the one-child policy, he is sending a frightening message to other countries, like India, where sex-selective abortions are epidemic in a country that places little value on girls."
The American left loves the idea of the "protestor" who speaks "truth to power" and complains about the supposed sins of America.
The truth is that America is a good and Godly country, where we respect the God given rights of every creation of almighty God, from conception until death, and that the left is not only engaged in a war on women but a war on the most fundamental of human rights - the right to life, liberty and happiness.
Chen Guangcheng is the one who really spoke "truth to power," who paid an enormous price for this, who deserves our respect, our prayers, our concern for his fate, and bears watching.
The "rights" that Occupy Wall Street, Planned Parenthood and their friends in the Obama White House speak for, are not rights at all, but government entitlements that have nothing to do with human dignity and freedom.
Cardinal Joseph Mindzsenty 50 years ago spoke truth to real power, as he did his entire life, and was also imprisoned by Communists, and also took refuge in an American embassy.
And 50 years ago, that U.S. Embassy did not trick him into leaving by warning him that his family or loved ones had been taken hostage and wouldn't be safe, if he did not leave immediately.
Chen Guangcheng, although neither a Catholic nor any kind of a Christian, is like Cardinal Joseph Mindzsenty, a genuine hero and we should be watching this story carefully while demanding that Senators and Congressman should do their job and launch immediate inquiry as to the conduct of the Secretary of State and others involved in this case.
If America stands for anything, it is the beacon of hope in the world, the symbol of freedom, of what our founders spoke of in their founding Declaration, the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Killing Chinese baby girls and abridging the most fundamental rights that we Americans recognize, is not population control, it isn't just a "values voter" issue or something you might hear out of a Rick Santorum.
The story of Chen Guangcheng should illustrate once again and very clearly the difference between the Administration of Barack Obama, Joseph Biden, Hillary Clinton and their pro-abortion, population control ally, the mecca for Planned Parenthood, Red China, and those of us who love freedom and what the Pope of Rome has called "human dignity," Chen Guangcheng.
Republicans seeking to rally their forces for a 2012 victory should speak out clearly on this issue, and repeatedly, not just until Chen Guangcheng is safely in America with his family but until they stop the war on women in Red China.
This isn't just the secular left versus the Christian right. It isn't just a right to life issue. It is the real war on women, the real war against human dignity, and Republicans ought to speak out strongly not just for Chen Guangcheng but for their vision of America and of how we project our values and our ideals of freedom in the world.
