Waterboarding and Guantanamo Bay Save the Day
Ok-I am beginning to sound like a parrot, but I’m going to repeat this until it is part of the public consciousness. Waterboarding and Guantanamo Bay were two of the things that led to killing Geronimo (Osama bin Laden). Without them, OBL would not have been caught. The prominent things that I remember in this debate are the really stupid protests in major cities, wherein protesters reconstructed a Guantanamo Bay prison cell out of a cardboard box and simulated waterboarding-as if people would be appalled by the insensitivity of the treatment of terrorists. Nevermind, though because the people who were performing these protests just put down their cardboard boxes to celebrate the killing of Osama bin Laden. It’s all ok now.
What blows me away is that these people are ignoring the fact that waterboarding and Guantanamo Bay prison are two of the things that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden, and they also stopped an attack on Los Angeles that would have been similar to 9/11. The fact that waterboarding led to the killing of Osama bin Laden was trumpeted by Representative Peter King on The O’Reilly Factor. King serves as the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and is also part of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. My guess is that he knows what he is talking about. Contrast this with the article on Yahoo News recently that stated that there is no definitive evidence that waterboarding led to the killing of bin Laden. Yahoo News seems resolute in their attitude that they will leave the pathway open to the idea that waterboarding is an unnecessary torture of innocent terrorists who want to kill Americans. The debate spirals out of control with these people. To add to all of this, Leon Panetta-head of the CIA confirmed that waterboarding led to the killing of bin Laden.
At the end of the day, some other techniques may work and work as well as waterboarding, but waterboarding and Guantanamo Bay are definitely two things that America needs in its arsenal. We need everything in the pantheon of warfare in order to win against the enemy, and to keep America winning the War on Terror.
