Used to be: back before what was going on in the background, became more important than what was going on with the artists; that movies were good.
George Lucas said: “The pathway to get into theaters is really getting smaller and smaller.” Steven Spielberg stated: “There’s going to be an implosion where three or four or maybe even a half-dozen megabudget movies are going to go crashing into the ground, and that’s going to change the paradigm.”
Why all the demise? Hollywood has yet to escape the ‘new Photoshop user syndrome’. An artist first acquiring Photoshop becomes entranced with learning the shortcuts to every single effect offered and then proceeds to use every single effect offered and produces massively loud and totally worthless art. That is, until the effects become annoyances and then an artist starts to display the story in art just using those effects, not praying to them.
Movies were comprised of story lines and character intrigue and nuance toward life truths. Even if they were low budget and not as flashy, those films did well. If those films are not returned to the theater going public, the young teenagers most films target these days; they will lose their audience to a jaded maturity.
Hollywood simply has to return to values that mimic life. Not values that decry the lack of respect for a life hardly no one knows. And they need to allow their digital artists to use what they have learned in creating the background; in order for the artists to tell the story in front of them. Hollywood is consumed with digital effects. When Hollywood matures away from the ‘disregard all past experience’, liberal experiment; it will find itself either out of a job, or leading the way to a prosperous society.
Hollywood’s morals are not driving the culture. The culture drove into Hollywood. Now, before that implosion happens: Hollywood can stop it. Put special effects into supporting roles. Present real life stories that have happy endings but don’t do them like the Brady Bunch (corny: which is what liberals think all those family shows were all about) or Modern Family. Create new stories but stop re-writing history. Historical events that are modified in a film will and have become truth to too many viewers. It should be illegal to change the past. Hollywood can drive attention to a compass. It cannot survive if it pretends to be that compass.
All the while, the audience becomes jaded with each new advance in background noise, killing off its own potential. One cannot reverse that trend Mr. Lucas without reversing course.
And they want to know why Hollywood is dying.
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn’t hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger…watch it grin
And Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
Today: movies are bad, whether they are good or not. And bad will always end badly.
