If you don’t live in Louisiana, you might not know that the Democratic Party is pretty much dead. Unfortunately, the powers that be won’t lock me in a room with it and a defibrillator. You know, just to make sure. I certainly wouldn’t find creative ways to issue the shocks or anything.
However, no one actually told the Louisiana Democratic Party that it’s dead. Not the several Republican lawmakers who jumped ship to be electable (and so embarrassingly transparent) Republicans, not the few remaining Democrats who have a decent head on their shoulders (blue dogs do exist, they just don’t get elected) and certainly not Bobby Jindal, who so solidly thrashed them in his re-election campaign that there was no need for a run-off in a pool of many, many candidates.
And so, they carry on. They have a Twitter handle, @LaDemos, which I can only assume is derived from a Mexican socialist terrorist group, and they are led by the woman in that video, Karan Carter Peterson, who has the IQ of (at best) the tombstone I had made for her party a few weeks ago. Actually, the tombstone might be smarter, considering it knows her party is over.
So, it comes as no shock to me or others that she would say refusing the Medicaid expansion and opposing Obamacare is racism.
“It isn’t about the administration, and members, it shouldn’t be about this administration at the state level nor should it be about the federal administration when it comes to Obamacare, but in fact it is,” said Peterson. “And why is that? Why is that? I have talked to so many members both in the House and the Senate, and you know what? You ready? You ready for what it comes down to? It is not about how many federal dollars we can receive, it is not about that. You ready? It is about race. I know nobody wants to talk about that. It is about the race of this African-American president.”
She will also go on to say that Newt Gingrich offered a similar bill and us whiteys were all too ready to support it. Please don’t think about that too long or something dire might happen inside your skull.
