Republicans and Donald Trump
So, this morning, I saw a tweet promoted by the Republican Leadership Conference 2014 account, and I was curious because, you know, New Orleans is a two hour drive and I could’ve taken a day to go check this out. I clicked the link and immediately decided it was not worth a missed day of work. Why?
The latest speakers to confirm are Donald Trump, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Bobby Jindal, Ted Cruz, Reince Priebus, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Mike Lee, Allen West, Marsha Blackburn and Ron Johnson.
To further narrow down my problem
The latest speakers to confirm are Donald Trump [...]
This is somewhat appalling, and, luckily, Jay Caruso pointed me to his own thoughts on the subject.
There is no nice way to say this: Donald Trump is a clown. He’s a charlatan who cares about one thing, and one thing only: Donald Trump.
Republicans and conservatives should be embarrassed that he pretends to be one of them. They should be more embarrassed that they continue to invite him to speak at national events. Donald Trump is yet another person on a long list of people who have flirted with the idea of running for public office. I say “flirt” because they rarely – if ever – run. Their goal is nothing more than self promotion. It’s free PR to run for an elective office, particularly for President.
It is the Year of Our Lord 2014, and we think Donald Trump is someone we can truly rely on in the Republican party? The man has donated to some of the biggest names currently in the Democratic party, and favors all sorts of un-Republican (or perhaps un-Conservative) policies out there, including a tax on net worth for the wealthy.
As somewhat of a friend to the Republican party, and a member of the conservative movement, I kindly ask that everyone come together and just say “No” to Trump.
PS – He’s a @#$%&^* Birther. Come on.
