This via WWL in New Orleans:
Just weeks after ship builder Boyse Bollinger endorsed US Senator Mary Landrieu in a commercial, the lawmaker from Louisiana today announced she included $318 million for six Fast Response Cutters for the Coast Guard in the bill that funds the Department of Homeland Security.
The vessels are built at Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, Louisiana.
"Even though I am a Republican and don't always agree with her, Louisiana can't afford to lose Mary Landrieu," Bollinger said in the ads. "She is chairman of the Energy Committee, the most powerful position a person can have for Louisiana. It means more boats, more jobs and more oil and gas."
It pays to be Mary's friend, which is why Bollinger agreed to be in the commercial in the first place. Energy and business leaders, regardless of party, flock to support her because she, like Thad Cochran, bring home the bacon. It is time for my friends and neighbors in Louisiana to retire this woman.
