In America Today What Does it Mean to be a Fiscal Conservative

Sacrifice... who me?

What does it mean to be a fiscal conservative? I have been searching my inner soul the past couple of days too find the answer. Everywhere I look, we have become more, and more like dependents of the federal government, and they for indulging our privileged and abundant life styles. Now with the new housing market rescue, our federal government has me starting to wonder… I am I the stupid one.

I work three jobs, cut my expenses, shop for better deals on insurances to cable providers and sure, I own a home and yes…. I am hurting, but I did not expect the federal government to bail me out and would never would.
With, 400,000 homeowners expected to start suckling the government teat along with the big two mortgage lenders… Freddie Mac’s and Fannie Mae, are grandchildren are going to give 300 billion ~for starters~ for …. Oops, sorry, we f’d up, money. So where does that leave a fiscal conservative standing? That is right, behind a counter, at a third job.

So now, I am rethinking my position. I do not want to work three jobs, and pay for a mortgage that I negotiated knowing that good and bad things could happen. I do not want to miss anymore of my kids little league games, no way! So here, it is… Until we have a real chance of changing the tax system and going to a flat tax or something that resembles it, I want some of the cream off the top of the Nanny State cesspool milk jug.

And then… my conscious kicks in.

In these tiring times, I am comforted by a work by Thomas Paine, In The American Crisis. Written after the loss of New York on December 23, 1776, it was read to the troops on Christmas morning by order of George Washington. I quote… “These are the times that try men’s souls. The Summer Soldier and the Sunshine Patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us: that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.”

America… Do we even know or understand the word sacrifice means. What a creative utopia of capitalistic bullcrap. I want it all and I do not want to suffer or have to work any harder to keep it. I want it all, and I want it now! Give me a break!
