During the 2010 Campaign, the Left put forth a phony Tea Party candidate in an attempt to divert votes away from Rep. Jon Runyan in his race against former Rep. John Adler in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. The attempt failed, but as we know from our experience with Liberals, they never give up after failing.
Fast forward to the current crop of potential Republican Presidential Primary contestants. Among the potential candidates are Palin, Bachmann, Gingrich, Daniels. Also there are (pretty much) declared candidates like Gary Johnson, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul and Herman Cain. Which brings us to Donald Trump.
A review of Trump’s history reveals that he has hardly been a rock-ribbed conservative. For example, back in the mid-1990s, Trump decided that his casino, Trump Plaza, needed to expand. So, instead of attempting to purchase a neighboring property from the owner, Vera Coking, he instead got the city of Atlantic City to exercise eminent domain to have the property condemned, so that he could steal the property from Ms. Coking. Ms. Coking eventually won the case, but the episode demonstrates Mr. Trump’s blatant disrespect for private property rights. It would seem, based upon this history, that Mr. Trump would agree with the holding in Kelo v. City of New London, which for my money is as harmful a Supreme Court decision as Dred Scott, Plessy and Korematsu. This is hardly a conservative position.
Also, an examination of Mr. Trump’s political donations reveals that he supports politicians who are not only liberals, but are politicians who are openly hostile to this country and its prosperity. These politicians include: Charles Rangel, Frank Lautenberg, Charles “The Anti-Catholic Bigot” Schumer, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. However, the most troubling contribution made by Trump is the $50,000.00 he gave to Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former Chief of Staff and a man so dirty that he smells through the television. Ask yourself, does it make sense that Trump gave Obama’s former right-hand man $50,000.00 in December, 2010 and now, in April, 2011, he doesn’t even believe that Obama is a citizen? Mr. Trump recently told Meredith Viera, of the Today Show, that “If Obama isn’t a citizen, he’s pulled off one of the great scams in history.” Based on that statement, Trump gave $50,000.00 to a man who was involved in perpetrating that scam.
Looking at Mr. Trump’s previous statements, he has called George W. Bush the worst President ever, he has called Ronald Reagan a “con man,” expressed views in support of abortion rights, single payer health care and has recently advocated the status quo as it pertains to Medicare. Simply put, Mr. Trump is not now, nor has he ever been, a conservative.
So, since Mr. Trump is not a conservative, why would he pursue the nomination of the Republican Party which is supposed to be the conservative party? Given Mr. Trump’s past, recent support of Liberal positions and politicians, it is more likely that he is doing this in a lame attempt to taint Conservatives, Republicans and Tea Party members, especially with Independents, and ensure Obama’s regime continues for four more years. In fact, given the subterfuge which the Left has demonstrated in the Past (Al Franken’s election, et. al.), it would not surprise me in the least if Mr. Trump is colluding with his $50,000.00 friend Rahm Emanuel and his buddies in trying to ensure another four years of Obama’s destructive regime. Whatever his motivation, it is my belief that Mr. Trump is attempting to swindle conservatives and Tea Party members just like he tried to swindle the above mentioned property from Ms. Coking. Hopefully, conservatives will be as successful in defeating this charlatan as Ms. Coking was.
