Brian Joyce has jumped the shark by publishing this disgrace that even the Huffington Post should have more dignity than to publish. His argument? That making Americans finally care about the cascading debacles that have marked Obama’s presidency is a good thing.
This is why I think we need four more years of Obama. For whatever reason, with Barack Obama in office, Americans finally seem to care about many of the important issues we should have cared about years ago! In my opinion, that’s a good thing. It’s something we should continue to do. Who knows, with four more years of Obama, we might even figure out why every president since William Howard Taft skipped the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.
Every scandal, every failure is the fault of someone else. The VA never worked, therefore Obama is absolved.
And so it goes with the VA scandal. For years, even decades, the mismanagement and neglect at many of our VA hospitals has been well documented. The problem goes all the way back to the very inception of the Veterans Administration in 1930. Still, Americans never seemed to care. Even John McCain, himself a war hero, claims to be “bewildered” to this day.
Of course, the systemic lying, false reporting and management’s smug indifference under Obama isn’t the problem. Joyce also takes on gun control, tax hikes, and terrorist attacks, comparing Obama to Reagan–he marches out the careworn point that Reagan raised taxes a number of times, but fails to mention that Reagan cut the top tax rate from over 70% to 28%.
And this whopper:
What about debts and deficits? America’s debt has been spiraling out of control for 35 years. In fact, in the 30 years before President Obama took office, the national debtgrew 93 percent! George W. Bush nearly doubled the national debt, Ronald Reagan nearly tripled it, but still, Americans never seemed to care. As Dick Cheney said himself, “Deficits don’t matter.” Only in 2009 did debts and deficits matter, when Barack Obama took office.
Apparently, the only logic for keeping Obama is that he concentrates all the evils of government, all the mistakes and issues of every president of the last 230 years, into just two terms, thereby making Americans finally care about those issues.

I’m aware that what I’m about to say will come across as trite to the cynical, but it is truly not: Have you no sense of *decency*, Ms. Albright, Ms. Steinem? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?

Share on Facebook 1 1 SHARES In the Obama years of the Department of Homeland Security, a lot of questionable things have gone on. For example, as we’ve noted before, the DHS shut down an investigation into the terrorists who would eventually launch a deadly terror-related shooting in San Bernardino, California. We know this and more thanks to Philip Haney, a whistleblower that has made | Read More »
