Hackers Reveal Obama’s Private Schedule

Russians hacked the White House; we can only guess what they found

Barack Obama

Here’s one advantage of Hillary Clinton’s private email server:  when Russian hackers penetrated the State Department’s network, they found none of Hillary’s documents.  But they did use that system to leapfrog into a more promising target:  the White House.

CNN reported today that a sensitive but unclassified system was breached last year during the intrusion.

While the White House has said the breach only affected an unclassified system, that description belies the seriousness of the intrusion. The hackers had access to sensitive information such as real-time non-public details of the president’s schedule. While such information is not classified, it is still highly sensitive and prized by foreign intelligence agencies, U.S. officials say.

So how do hackers get into the most secure networks in America?  “Spear phishing.”  They send targeted emails to people that are engineered to look like legitimate emails that the recipients would normally open.  Maybe it was an infected Word document sent to a Valerie Jarrett aide—it could be practically anything.

To the unsuspecting user, It would look like a corrupted file, but it downloads a “payload” that immediately begins to gather sensitive information and infect other computers on the network.

These hackers obviously knew what they were doing.

To get to the White House, the hackers first broke into the State Department, investigators believe.

The State Department computer system has been bedeviled by signs that despite efforts to lock them out, the Russian hackers have been able to reenter the system. One official says the Russian hackers have “owned” the State Department system for months and it is not clear the hackers have been fully eradicated from the system.

The hackers obtained President Obama’s “private” schedule, the one they don’t publish.  Knowing where the POTUS is and what he’s doing in real-time is a big deal.  Even for a short window, that data, along with other publicly available information about the president’s schedule, exposes our country to danger.

Obama’s private schedule.  You know, where he tells the IRS to punish his enemies, and — what does Obama do all day, anyway?  I’m actually really curious, because he has to be the most indolent person ever to occupy the White House.

He seems to spend his time granting powder-puff interviews to marshmallow journalists like Ezra Klein, talking on the phone to Al Sharpton, and plotting the next scandal to consume the media, displacing the last scandal, and the one before that.  I’ve been hoping the Russians let Edward Snowden pull this caper and give the data to Julian Assange or The Guardian.

So what did the hackers reveal Obama spent his time doing?

I’ll go with this.
