Syria and Africa More Important To Obama Than American Small Businesses
President Obama has announced his intention to close the Small Business Administration (SBA) to save a measly $300 million a year. Let’s put things into perspective, the SBA’s budget is .001 percent of the Pentagon’s budget. The Pentagon spends more on tips in a year than it takes to run the SBA. Donald Rumsfeld has announced that over $2.3 trillion in Pentagon spending was unaccounted for. A recent Government Accountability Office audit of the Pentagon found up 25 to percent of their expenditures cannot be accounted for. If they really want to save some money they should take a quick look over there. I bet they could easily find .001 percent to cut.
At the same time Obama announced he was going to close the SBA to save $300 million, he announced his plan to spend $7 BILLION to build power plants in Africa. Obama’s “Power Africa” project would fund the SBA at its current budget until 2023. It would fund his paltry $300 million a year savings until 2036.
Let’s see, according to U.S. Census Bureau data, 98 percent of all U.S. firms have less than 100 employees and 89 percent have less than 20. Those 28 million small businesses are responsible for over 90 percent of net new jobs, over 50 percent of the private sector work force and over 50 percent of the GDP. Over 90 percent of all U.S. exporters are small businesses.
During Obama’s last speech on the budget he mentioned the word, “jobs” a dozen times. Well, guess what Mr. President, that agency you want to close, the SBA, that’s the only federal agency is our entire government to assist the 28 million small businesses where most Americans work and almost all net new JOBS are created.
Obama is either an economic moron or does not have access to a pocket calculator. If your goal is to destroy the middle class economy, closing the SBA is a swell idea. If you want to pull $100 billion in existing federal spending out of the middle class, closing the SBA is a fantastic idea. If you want to reduce access to capital for small businesses, closing the SBA is obviously the way to go. If you really want to put millions of small businesses out of business, closing the SBA is an excellent choice. But, if you’re trying to create jobs, reduce unemployment and stimulate the economy, closing the SBA is the single stupidest, dumbass thing you could ever do.
So, America is already $16 TRILLION in the hole. They’ve shut down the White House tours, grounded the Blue Angels and have been talking about laying off air traffic controllers and closing the SBA. Then President Obama thought, I know what, let’s attack Syria. How much is that going to cost? How many pictures of dead young soldiers are we going to have to see on the news? If we get into that war, how much is it going to cost over the next 50 years to take care of all the young soldiers that are shot, blown up and mutilated over there? Don’t we already have enough people in the Middle East that hate our guts and are willing to blow themselves up to kill us?
I don’t know about you, but there are a few things I’d rather have my tax dollars spent on, like funding the only federal agency to help the small businesses that create over 90 percent of net new jobs, cures for cancer, cutting health care costs, improving the educational system or giving everyone in the military a raise. How about a tax cut maybe?
Do me a favor, if you agree with any of this, send this to some of your friends, and ask them to sent it to some of their friends. Then let’s all call our senators and congressmen and tell them we don’t want the SBA closed but we think it would be a great idea to shut down the fricking “Power Africa” program and quit attacking countries that haven’t attacked the U.S. We can’t afford it.
