According to the Politico, “Biden, driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal, responded: “They have acted like terrorists,” according to several sources in the room.” So, tough negotiating has now been designated terrorism. They have decided there is no level of rhetoric too hot. There is no position in this government respectable enough that it will not use the most vicious, vile attacks upon its peaceful dissenting citizenry. The Vice President of the United States just essentially declared war on us. I don’t think they realize what fire they are playing with. It gets worse.
So, if this is true, the second in line to the presidency has labeled us traitors to the state. Biden is reported to have, “Earlier in the day, Biden told Senate Democrats that Republican leaders have “guns to their heads” in trying to negotiate deals.” If this story is true, that means he is using violent rhetoric to stir up passions among the progressive/socialist wing of the party. Biden also said that voting for the debt deal would, “take away the tea party’s “weapon of mass destruction” — the threat of a default on U.S. debt obligations.” So, in addition to being terrorists and putting a gun to the heads of Democrats, we are using a weapon of mass destruction on the economy. ‘Biden: Tea partiers like terrorists,’ Jonathan Allen and John Bresnahan, August 1, 2011.
So, in remarks to his party, the Vice President of the United States essentially called our political argument, our civic engagement, and our fundamental disagreement with the far left wing of the Democratic Party a treasonous act. If we are engaging our political leaders and demanding action, he is saying it is the same a terrorist act to destroy the state, which is treason. No one is using a single firearm, weapon, chemical or biological substance, or bomb or knife or riot. This is too far. This is no longer political reasoning or rhetoric. The Vice President of the United States needs to make a very humble, sincere apology and if he won’t do that, he needs to resign.
There is word that on the floor of the House, an anti-Boehner crowd shoved and pushed Capitol police. These people are playing with fire with their supporters. There will be violence if the executive branch and Democratic leaders don’t condemn this kind of argument. Once people are seriously labeled and made seem enemies, there are those who will believe the rhetoric. They will act upon it. The Left teeters on the verge of violence in too many cases any way. They will crack up and people will die. This is just a road too far.
There is absolutely no room for our auxiliary commander in chief to use words like these. There is no quarter for allowing the man who would run the executive branch to make such extreme and dangerous accusations. There is no way this can be ignored. This is gone too far. The president must call on his party to stop acting the fool. The vice president must prostrate himself before the country.
Enough is Enough.
