Obama’s alters position on his pay grade and his humility

He still doesn't care when life begins.

Dem Presidential nominee once told Pastor Rick Warren that he could not judge abortion to be deadly because, in his words, “whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question [of when human life begins] with specificity is above my pay grade” [vid]. He’s been panned for his intellectually lazy version of stoicism.

On Sunday, talking to political ally and fellow traveler George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week, Obama had changed his mind, describing his original answer as “flip” (to which we can now affix, “flop”):

Obama told Stephanopoulos “what I intended to say is that, as a Christian, I have a lot of humility…all I meant to communicate was that I don’t presume to be able to answer these kinds of theological questions.”

Obama went on to explain, “that abortion is a moral issue, that it’s one that families struggle with all the time. And that in wrestling with those issues, I don’t think that the government criminalizing the choices that families make is the best answer for reducing abortions.”

“The better answer…is to figure out, how do we make sure the young mothers, or women who have a pregnancy that’s unexpected or difficult, have the kind of support they need to make a whole range of choices, including adoption and keeping the child,” he said.

{” I have a lot of humility.” Oh, so that’s what they call it these days. It still doesn’t smell good when you have to scoop it.)

Barry, this is simple. If a society wants to protect the unborn, to reduce abortions, the last thing it should have is a federal government which forbids the States to restrict abortions and to construct a billboard telling women that their unborn infants are nothing really and they have a right to abort them. That’s what Obama essentially wants to do. His answer shows that he has no interest in reducing the number of abortions.

He is not going to turn Planned Parenthood into an adoption agency no matter what he says and no matter how well-respected he thinks himself.

Obama’s newly-minted mini-me, Joe Biden, fared better with Tom Brokaw on NBC’s Meet the Press, Sunday [transcript]:2aad860629c46093d55b1aea15af88bd

So Biden is telling us that one of his fundamental beliefs is that life begins at conception, thus that abortion is murder; however, he doesn’t really care if these murders are committed because someone else might believe something else about unborn babies. Cardinal Egan declares that there is no debate about this whatsoever in the Catholic church. How cynical must one be to believe something with all his hard yet consider it to be meaningless in the real world?

Biden is set in his ways, and he will not flip-flop unless Axelrod tells him that it is necessary to get Obama elected. Obama, on the other hand, is due to again alter his answer once someone delivers to Axelrod a better formulation. It shouldn’t be difficult.
