Rethinking the Death Penalty

Those of you who already know me know I’m a member of the CA Board of Parole Hearings and am a retired prosecutor who has been a lawyer since 1977.   Before I go further, let me stress that this opinion, is simply me exercising my free speech rights as a private citizen. I do not claim nor intend what I say here is being | Read More »

    Obama…Osama…What’s the Difference?…

Hi Readers! Much has been made about Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign leveling criticism at Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama’s connection to self-admitted, unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. McCain’s critics complain that such a connection has no relevance and, instead, McCain should be focusing on the current economic mess that threatens to be the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

    Obama and Race

Hi Readers! I’m hearing some rumbles that Barack Obama’s ethnicity may prevent him from becoming U.S. President. It’s true that I am not, and will never be, a Barack Obama fan. But, my reasons are simply based on the fact that we don’t agree with one another on the issues. Never have…never will. However, I have zero patience and no tolerance whatsoever for racists. Obama and the Pledge of Allegiance

Hi Readers! Like most other writers, I, too, am a voracious reader. Part of this reading involves reviewing and sending E-mails each morning, generally during those early morning hours when the rest of the thundering herd is still sound asleep. Some of the E-mails I receive are not a very productive expenditure of time. Many others, on the other hand, are real eye openers. Whenever | Read More »

    Hypocrisy, thy Name is Democrat

When I started blogging, I promised myself I wasn’t here to win any popularity contests. I’ve tried to be honest my entire life. That’s the way my parents taught me to be (…you know?…don’t lie…don’t cheat…don’t steal…). Since we were poorer than proverbial church mice, these principles, and my developing stubbornness, occasionally were all that kept me moving from one day to the next. I’m | Read More »

    California’s 80th Assembly District Race…Jeandron’s opponent a Three Striker!

Hi Readers! So, what’s up with the Democratic opponent of retired Palm Springs’ Police Chief and Palm Springs Unified School Board member Gary Jeandron in the purported race for the 80th Assembly District? Don’t want to sound too judgmental, but it certainly appears to me that Gary’s opponent just might be chickening out. What do I mean by this? Please read on. And, before I | Read More »

    Obama Choice-Biden…A Good One…Or?…

Hi Readers! So, it’s confirmed. Sen. Barack Obama has selected U.S. Senator Joseph Biden (D-Delaware) to be his Vice-Presidential running mate. Is this a good selection or one that the Senator from Illinois simply hasn’t thought through as well as he perhaps should have? I suspect that only history will be the judge of this. However, in the meantime, let me make an observation or | Read More »
