Jay-Z makes a buck off of #ows.

This is just darn funny, any way you look at it:

Jay-Z is releasing a new line of T-shirts in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement Friday via his Rocawear clothing label, but he doesn’t plan to share any of the profits with the protesters.

Then again, why should he? The Occupy movement is not precisely what one would call respectful of property rights, and that includes intellectual property rights. It’s not Jay-Z’s fault that he’s a businessman who saw a perfectly-legal merchandising opportunity – and one that had been already been spurned by market-hating ideologues. And it’s not like you can wave a magic wand and have t-shirts appear: they call it an industry for a reason.

But Jay-Z should remember this: he should remember this when they scream and rant at him and maybe even glomming a piece of the pie that he and his people worked hard to bake. These people hate business, and they think that businessmen make too much money already. And that attitude goes all the way up to the top, which is to say: to the highest levels of the Democratic party.

Look, I’m not saying that Jay-Z needs to go out and get himself a tricorn hat, or anything. I’m just asking that he… thinks about it*.
