A review of US Senate candidate Eric Wargotz's financials will notice that he received one major PAC donation - $5,000 from Wyndham Worldwide Corp PAC. Wyndham Worldwide is the the corporation that owns the Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Ramada, Wyndham Hotels / Resorts, and Howard Johnson. I honestly did not know much about their political action committee - so I checked with the FEC to see who else they've donated to in the past.
Besides Dr. Wargotz, in 2010 Wyndham PAC has donated $1,000 each to Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL). In 2009, Wyndham PAC was busier. Here's a breakdown of their 2009 donations:
Robert Menendez (D-NJ) - $9,500
Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) - $5,000
Charlie Crist (I-FL) - $2,500
Suzanne Kosmas (D-FL) - $2,500
For those who don't recognize the names - Robert Menendez is the current chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee. In 2008, Wyndham PAC donated an additional $2,500 to Menendez. They also donated $2,300 to Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and $2,500 to Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO). Now, since 2008, apart from $3,500 to Blunt and Ayotte total - they have donated to $22,800 to Democratic candidates and $2,500 to Independent Charlie Crist. So, why then does this same organization donate $5,000 to Wargotz? Why would the same organization that dropped $12,000 to the DSCC Chairman would also donate to a lesser known Republican candidate in Maryland running against a very strong, very well financed Democratic opponent? It may be a small donation - especially compared to the over half a million Wargotz donated to himself, but it's just another in a long line of questionables associated with Wargotz's campaign.
