(Phoenix, Arizona) Congressional Candidate and former State Senator Pamela Gorman, a cosponsor of Arizona’s new illegal immigration law (SB1070), will be a featured speaker at the United Border Coalition’s Tea Party Rally to take place on the Arizona-Mexico border Sunday, August 15. Gorman said that the purpose of the rally is to show support for Arizona’s right to enforce laws that the federal government will not.
According to Gorman, there is a real nexus between the Tea Party movement and the illegal immigration problem.
“That nexus is the enormous spending that this problem requires, straining our state resources and allowing jobs to be filled with illegal workers who do not pay income taxes and displace Arizona’s own out-of-work citizens, some even brazenly benefitting from welfare,” said Gorman. “When it comes to illegal immigration in this country, we are ground zero in Arizona.”
Gorman has been endorsed by the Tea Party Patriots of Glendale and her candidacy is supported by AZ SB 1070 author Senator Russell Pearce who will also be a featured speaker. The rally will take place on a private ranch directly on the border.
