In an interview just aired on CNN, real estate investment tycoon, Donald Trump stated that the "real problem is oil". He went on to say that just lowering interest rates would not help this economy and while he favored the bailout bill he did not know if that would work. (Update: He previously supported the bailout, but a poster says he now opposes.)
Trump is right. The real problem is our dependence on foreign oil. As I stated in previous posts, we move away from oil. The quickest and most certain way to achieve this move away from oil is, as Pickens suggests, to convert to natural gas. Pickens is also correct to argue that the first vehicles to be converted should be semi-trucks because they are the biggest users. But we should also convert as many private autos as possible.
