Quotes from Romney during tonight’s Debate:
“And so if I’m going to use precious dollars to reduce taxes, I want to focus on where the people are hurting the most, and that’s the middle class. I’m not worried about rich people. They are doing just fine.”
“You have a million kids uninsured in Texas. A million kids.”
Do these quotes sound like a conservative? That health insurance must be provided BY THE GOVERNMENT to all for free? And if you don’t you’re hurting kids? I’m not worried about rich people. They are doing just fine?
Health Insurance versus Health Care:
Texas has county hospitals, government clinics, and very cheap PRIVATE 24 hour clinics. Health care can be provided to the needy without the government forcing everyone to buy health insurance, without causing long lines and wait times measured in months for simple medical procedures, without regulating doctors to the point they leave the state, and without causing tremendous cost overruns. (All these are happening in Mass.)
Tax Cuts for the Rich versus Tax Cuts that Create Jobs and Growth
Romney does not get it. He does not think like a conservative. One does not reduce capital gains, or corporate taxes on the “rich”, you cut these taxes to create jobs, grow the economy, and because people have the right to persue their dreams whether they make $20,000 or $250,000. The American dream does not stop at $200,000, Gov. Romney. Increasing taxes makes it harder for people to persue THEIR American dream. Taking their money makes achieving these dreams harder. Rich people have dreams too: Whether it is Bono who dreams of stopping the spread of AIDS, or Steve jobs who sought to make computing a part of our everyday lives, or the airplane designer who dreams of private space flight. Entrepreneurs like these (rich guys) are what have created and will create the wonderful life improving ventures and the jobs of the future. They have made America great.
People are not poor because the rich are taxed too little. Many people in America are poor because there has been a tremendous burdens placed on companies who would have created jobs here (or because of poor life choices) We need more job creation not less. This is what Reagan understood and what Romney does not. He is putting on a good show but he is NOT a conservative. If Romney is the nominee, I will vote for him, but I will look to replacing the current leadership in the house so we can get real conservative leadership. Romney will not.
