‘Reject These Voices’ That Warn of Big Government an Tyranny
Just one week ago President Obama urged the students to “reject these voices” that warn of the evils of government, saying:
Still, you’ll hear voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that’s the root of all our problems, even as they do their best to gum up the works; or that tyranny always lurks just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, creative, unique experiment in self-rule is just a sham with which we can’t be trusted. (emphasis added)
In just that one week, thanks to Mr. Obama’s administration, we have sufficient evidence that tyranny is around the next corner (or even standing in front of us). In the last week:
1) It was shown that the government rewrote an intelligence report to lie to the American people for political reasons. (Benghazi)
2) For the first time, used secretly obtained phone records, of a media organization (AP) to find out who has been speaking to them.
3) Conducted IRS investigations into political enemies. Obtaining and then leaking tax and donor information to media and political opponents.
The first step to tyranny is to control what the people know. This is why #1 is important (Benghazi). The administration concocted a lie and then changed to official reports to match their lie. The second step is to make sure that no one exposes the lies that you tell. This is why #2 is important (APgate) The final step is to stop political opposition. This is why #3 is important. The IRS used fear and intimidation to discourage conservative groups. They made public the names of certain people who dared to oppose them.
These scandals have shown us why we do have to fear our government and that tyranny is far too close for comfort.
